Heroku | Design of the Status Site
Nice write-up. Though no mention of the Facebook timeline which clearly gave some inspiration to the design.

Heroku Isn't for Idiots - Randall Degges
A defense of Heroku with unfortunate tone (did he have to call people idiots?) but I generally agree with the sentiment. It *is* possible to tune and instrument Heroku apps, and you give up a lot more than just git deploy if you move to your own infrastructure or a lower-level cloud provider ("what have the Roman's ever done for us anyway"). I'm enjoying the trade-offs and I'm confident in our app architecture if I ever need to make the switch.

Heroku is great! However… « NIL: .to write(1) ~ help:about
Good, in depth notes about some of the pros and cons that arise when using Heroku for real. The part about managing environment variables within a team is definitely worth thinking about. I'm totally sold on the 12factorapp (theory) and reasonably happy with Heroku (practice).
