The Man in Seat Sixty-One - the train travel guide...
Very informative third party enthusiast's train travel website, with worldwide scope.

"Train travel is a more rewarding, low-stress alternative to flying, which brings us closer to the countries we visit and reduces our contribution to climate change. It's time to rediscover the pleasure, romance & adventure of travel by train or ship. This site explains how to travel comfortably & affordably by train or ferry where you might think air was now the only option. For help with train travel, ask the Man in Seat 61!"

Bikeable Communities - Bike Friendly Community in Long Beach
Parent organization of Bikestation, involved in many local efforts to make Long Beach a more bike-friendly city. (But not just Long Beach!) The bad news is that the website doesn't seem to have changed since 2016.

Bike to work or school and store your bike safely - Bikestation | bikestation.com
Website touting the downtown Long Beach bicycle facility and others like it, along with services to help develop more of the same.
The Long Beach Bikestation seems to be successful, insofar as no memberships are available.

Indian Wells Brewing Company | Made from pure artesian spring water
Because who wouldn't want a few beers when spending a day driving on the 14 and the 395? Sadly, the restaurant's been closed every time I've stopped. Apparently the artesian spring was the Manly party's first stop after their Death Valley debacle.

Buttonwillow's Best Barbeque Restaurant. Take-out. BBQ Sauce.
If you must travel the 5 between Northern and Southern California, this is a good place to eat. Really enjoyed my sandwich last time, and even did the tourist thing and bought a bottle of their sauce to bring home.
I used to hold out for Harris Ranch, until I walked in, sat down, and amused myself reading and checking my watch while four employees spent half an hour laughing and playing around with each other without ever acknowledging my presence. (I guess I was in quality assurance testing mode.) Half an hour was enough of that. I walked out and haven't been back.

Home – Centre Pompidou
I accept Stewart Brand's point that the Piano and Rogers-designed building is incredibly dysfunctional--but that doesn't mean it isn't also incredibly cool. As are many of the artifacts shown there. And don't plan a visit without checking IRCAM's schedule.

Pelican Case Sizes, Size Chart- PelicanCases.com
Suppose you've translated your anxiety about beating up gear into a specific lust for Pelican cases, only to encounter a plethora of dimensions and product numbers. Uh-oh. This table lays it all out. The bad news is that accompanying text suggests the table can be sorted--a clearly useful feature in attempting to map case to lifestyle accessory--but I cannot get this to work in either Firefox or Internet Explorer. Don't make me translate this to a spreadsheet, guys....
