Bikeable Communities - Bike Friendly Community in Long Beach
Parent organization of Bikestation, involved in many local efforts to make Long Beach a more bike-friendly city. (But not just Long Beach!) The bad news is that the website doesn't seem to have changed since 2016.

Bike to work or school and store your bike safely - Bikestation | bikestation.com
Website touting the downtown Long Beach bicycle facility and others like it, along with services to help develop more of the same.
The Long Beach Bikestation seems to be successful, insofar as no memberships are available.

Chapter 20. Providing Information and Enhancing Skills | Section 10. Developing a Speaker's Bureau | Main Section | Community Tool Box
Barbara Sinclair brought up the idea of a Long Beach Beekeepers speakers bureau as a way to organize a stable of speakers for deployment to community events (or outsiders to speak at our meetings). Gee, what's a speakers bureau? Danged if Wikipedia doesn't cite an actionable, no-nonsense guide published by my old Kansas neighbor, the University of Kansas.

As of late 2011, Ethan Hein's explanation of his social networking architecture included the note "I stream everything to FriendFeed, purely for SEO reasons." Easy, free, casts the net just that much wider.

CitySounds.fm - The music of cities
SoundCloud's engine is behind this collection of uploads, organized by city of origin. This conceit walks an interesting razor's edge: source location matters for audio in cyberspace.
