Paper size - Wikipedia
This lays out all the standard dimensions in one place, and even makes them seem rational. "The problem with standards is that there are so many to choose from!"

Today on Non Sequitur - Comics by Wiley Miller - GoComics
One of the better strips in the "LA Times." There was a time when the artist was disgusted with and cynical about ALL politics, which irritated me. Since then, he seems to have been shocked back to the idea that some politicians are worse than others. Sometimes the strip gets esthetically ambitious.

The Color of Art: Home - Pigments and Paints
Database of pigment properties, with paint and medium properties. From the site:

These are, to my knowledge, the most complete color index pigment code reference of it's type available on the internet for free. The pigment information is sorted by color index name making it easy the look up the pigment codes that are listed on artist paint tubes. The Colour Index Generic Names and Colour Index Constitution Numbers are voluntary international standards of the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), CII (Color Index International), AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists), and the SDC (Society of Dyers and Colourists). The Color Index Codes and generic pigment names were developed so that artists and colorists had a consistent international standard.
This pigment reference database consists of the color index pigment code name, generic pigment name, common paints/pigments names, color index chemical constitution number, chemical composition or formula, transparency/opaqueness, light fastness, oil absorption, toxically/safety, and other artists' paint information.

Monica Leal Cueva
To be honest, I don't remember where I saw Cueva's striking work and picked up her business card.

"Mónica Leal Cueva is a visual artist based in Los Angeles. Born in Mexico into a passionately artistic family, she was exposed to a wide range of artistic expression from early childhood. Her father, a trio guitarist, introduced her to the deep romanticism of bolero music, and her mother, an accomplished painter, showed her the wonders of the classical masters. Her family’s bohemian poetry-reading evenings further stroked her fascination with the fundamental unity of the creative process through word, sound or color, and her constant traveling through Mexico imbued her with the subtle sensibility of its traditional and modern arts, which blend a direct, unflinching look at what it is to be human with a subtle, even tender surrealism and love of fantasy."

Olivier de Sagazan peintre sculpteur performer
An intense approach to performance; per Dave Ayer.

"For more than 20 years Olivier de Sagazan has developed a hybrid practice that integrates: paintings, sculptures and performances. In his existential performative series Transfiguration, which he began in 1999, de Sagazan builds layers of clay and paint onto his own face and body to transform, disfigure and take apart his own figure, revealing an animalistic human who is seeking to understand his real nature. At once disquieting and deeply moving, this new body of work collapses the boundaries between the physical, animalistic and spiritual senses."

Clearprint Vellum Paper
Just like dad always used. The orange/black/white color scheme makes me nostalgic. I can see that what he told me about it being expensive was true. I can also see that what they claim about it being archival must be true, because on the rare occasions when I use it, I still draw from the small stock he gave me, or what Janis bought when we were in college. Interesting to see that Clearprint has been looking at fine art applications.
