Tonight's Tube Strike Is Entirely Justified
It's more about needing limits on night work than the pay issues, and TFL made its last offer too late for the Unions to consult their members on it. Article is a point of view, but seems a fair point.

A graffiti artist named Wanksy found a cheeky way to force his city to fix potholes
'It looks like Wanksy's work is yielding results. The road ahead may be long and hard, but as long as he keeps thrusting ahead, he'll get the satisfaction his city needs. And when he sees the hot liquid asphalt spurting all over the street, he knows it's worth it.'

The train dispatcher who defines what it means to be a gentleman
"Being nice to the people around you. That is one of the things that is really worth fighting for. Everything else is vanity."

As well as this guy being generally awesome, I think it's nice that in a lot of places, there's more room for people to show their own personalities; whenever I'm on a train and the driver has a bit of personality in their announcements, it puts a smile on my face, and makes it a nicer journey.

All Our Patent Are Belong To You | Blog | Tesla Motors
'Tesla Motors was created to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport. If we clear a path to the creation of compelling electric vehicles, but then lay intellectual property landmines behind us to inhibit others, we are acting in a manner contrary to that goal. Tesla will not initiate patent lawsuits against anyone who, in good faith, wants to use our technology.'

Deal is 'let's talk about things some more'. I'll also note that the last line is a bit inaccurate AIUI — there'll be no compulsory redundancies if there are enough voluntary ones.

Apologies for this being the Boris Show ATM, but when it rains, it pours.

How the FRA is Regulating Passenger Rail Out of Existence | East Bay Bicycle Coalition
'What if the FAA required that jet aircraft be able to survive crashes into the ground? Or if the FHA said automobiles had to survive any head-on crash at 60 mph into a tractor trailer without deformation? Even if such vehicles could be engineered, they would be far too costly to operate. But for passenger trains, that is precisely what the FRA has been doing.'

If the facts don't fit, it bends them until they do.It's currently being sued by electric car maker Tesla. Now it's been caught red-handed faking another trial, in this case of the Nissan LEAF."
