Jotti's malware scan
"Jotti's malware scan is a free online service that enables you to scan suspicious files with several anti-virus programs. Scanners used are Linux versions; detection differences with Windows versions of the same scanners may occur due to implementation differences. There is a 25MB limit per file. Keep in mind that no security solution offers 100% protection, not even when it uses several anti-virus engines (for example, this scan service). "

INSTEON - How It Works
"What makes INSTEON the most reliable home automation technology is its dual-mesh network. "Dual" means that INSTEON uses both radio frequency signals and the home's existing electrical wiring to talk to each other. Every message is confirmed as it is received, and if any errors are detected, the message is automatically resent."

Woman victimized by Spanish email scam - Moneyville.ca
Someone I know got burned by this recently - all her contacts (and mailbox contents) were wiped out - so she couldn't send a follow up email. Use a VERY strong password (combo of digits, uppercase, lowercase and symbols). Make it as LONG as possible.

bonchat.org - unnecessarily secure web chat
"“Secure” websites encrypt the connection between your browser and the web server. This keeps your data safe from casual snoopers, but anyone with access to the server can still read whatever you say. Bonchat.org goes you one better and encrypts every chat browser to browser with 128-bit AES . When you invite a friend to bonchat you give them the address of your chat and a password you make up. This password is never sent to the server. It’s only used by javascript in your browser to encrypt everything you send. If your friend connects with the same password they’ll be able to talk to you securely. If someone signs on with a different password they’ll see only gibberish. If some scoundrel kidnapped the bonchat.org computers and read through the logs (if bonchat even kept logs), they’d have only gibberish as well. Now that’s secure!"
