Kierkegaard On Escaping the Cult of Busyness » IAI TV
''The most ludicrous of all ludicrous things, it seems to me, is to be busy in the world, to be a man who is brisk at his meals and brisk at his work[…]What, after all, do these busy bustlers achieve? Are they not just like that woman who, in a flurry because the house was on fire, rescued the fire tongs? What more, after all, do they salvage from life’s huge conflagration?''

An inversion of nature: how air conditioning created the modern city | Cities | The Guardian

I have survived 2 waves of El Scorcherino - the notorious NYC summer heat waves - without air conditioning. Forgoing A/C in this climate is largely because of the Home Energy Report furnished by ConEd, which for whatever reason has turned into a competition for me - an imaginary competition against my Average and Efficient Neighbors to see who can use less energy. While the Average is easily bested, it brings me ridiculous joy to surpass my Efficient Neighbors' energy usage by 10, 20, sometimes 30 or more kWh in a given month.

[1502.03808] Gravitational Lensing by Spinning Black Holes in Astrophysics, and in the Movie Interstellar
I was just thinking last night about Interstellar, and how movies that depict try to depict relativity can be doomed because there isn't a collective consensus on what the theoretical edge of physics *actually looks like*
