Homemade Pasta Drying Rack for Pasta Making- Really Easy and Cheap!
I've been making homemade pasta ever since I read you could do it on with 3 cups whole wheat flour and one cup water. So cheap, pretty easy. And I was able to make whole wheat pasta for cheaper than the store bought white flour pasta.
When I would make that pasta, I would use a rolling pin to roll it out really well, and then a pizza cutter to cut the pasta to size.

Ultra Delicious Homemade Red Lentil Burgers Recipe- Gluten Free, Vegan
When I recommend to people that they start cooking legumes as protein to lower their grocery bills, as legumes are much cheaper than animal proteins, people often say that they'd like to, only they don't really care for the taste of beans and legumes in general, and that they'd make them if they had good recipes. One of my most popular recipes, that nearly everyone who's tried it (and there were

White Rice Increases Risk of Type 2 Diabetes | Sun Q. 2012-03-15
[Researchers analysed the results of four studies on white rice consumption and diabetes risk: two in China and Japan and two in the USA and Australia]. All participants were diabetes free at study baseline.
White rice is the predominant type of rice eaten worldwide and has [a high glycemic index]. High GI diets are associated with an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. [Chinese eat an average of four portions a day while Westerners eat fewer] than five portions a week.
A significant trend was found in both Asian and Western countries with a stronger association found amongst women than men. [The] authors estimate that the risk of type 2 diabetes is increased by 10% with each increased serving of white rice (assuming 158g per serving).
White rice has a lower content of nutrients than brown rice including fibre, magnesium and vitamins, some of which are associated with a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. [Low intake of these nutrients may increase risk in addition to the high glycemic index and glycemic load.]

Does Eating Carbs Make You Sleepy? | LIVESTRONG.COM
Sep 2, 2011 | By John Gregory

Carbohydrates are manifest primarily in sugars, starches and fiber. These are found in a wide range of foods, including breads, pastries, fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes. Your digestive system breaks down carbohydrates into sugars that subsequently enter your bloodstream as glucose, or blood sugar. Because all carbohydrates are not identical, nor are the bodies that receive them, you may experience sleepiness after eating them -- but not inevitably

Starches are less uniform in their ability to trigger a rapid insulin reaction. Potatoes, for instance, are reputed to have an accelerated carbohydrate-to-glucose conversion, as does white bread. Pasta takes a little longer to be broken down, particularly if it is of the whole-grain variety. Of course many starchy foods also contain fiber, which slows the entry of carbohydrates into the bloodstream. The glycemic index ranks foods by their glucose conversion velocity. It ranks some starchy vegetables and legumes – peas, beans, and carrots – lower on the scale than potatoes and corn. Higher glycemic numbers make fatigue a greater possibility.
