Rajon Rondo has never seen team deal with as many injuries as Lakers - Silver Screen and Roll
Rajon Rondo has played 13 years in the NBA, so it’s worth paying attention when he says that he hasn’t seen injuries like the Lakers have had during that entire time.
The injury bug won’t stop coming back to bite the Los Angeles Lakers.
Last season, three different Lakers played less than 70 games due to injury, with Lonzo Ball missing a team-high 30 games with a nagging knee injury. This season, five players are already guaranteed to play less than 70 games, including LeBron James, Rajon Rondo, Brandon Ingram and Ball, who hasn’t played since Jan. 19 due to a Grade 3 ankle sprain. Depending on how many games Kyle Kuzma misses with his ankle sprain, he could join that group too.
Following the Lakers’ loss the Clippers on Monday, where they were missing four players due to injury, Rondo told reporters on Spectrum SportsNet that he’s never been on a team as banged up as the Lakers before:
“I’ve never had this many injuries, as far as different teammates being in and out of the lineups. Luke’s been doing what he has to do with what he has. Like I said, we should have saged our locker room here, at practice, everywhere. It seems like everyone has been hurt this year for periods of time.
“Me and Zo haven’t played together four games in a row probably all year. When I was healthy, he was out, and vice-versa. It’s part of the season, the sport we play, injuries are part of it, but I’ve never been a part of this many injuries in 13 years with so many different guys.”

Rondo Beats Buzzer, Celtics in 1st Rivalry Game as Laker | Los Angeles Lakers
When his name was called in pregame introductions, the sold-out Boston crowd erupted for Rajon Rondo. Little did they know, he would have them silenced at the end of the night.
With time running out and the Lakers trailing by one, Tyson Chandler kept a loose rebound alive just in time for Rondo to scoop it up and fire a shot from the elbow at the buzzer.
Seconds later, he was being lifted into the air by his Lakers teammates, as he had just given them a 129-128 victory over his former team, the rival Boston Celtics.
“I can’t describe it,” Rondo said. “It’s unbelievable. I couldn’t have imagined that one.”

Lakers: Kyrie Irving, Luke Walton and LeBron James were blown away by the defense Brandon Ingram played against the Celtics - Silver Screen and Roll
Brandon Ingram turned some heads with his lockdown defense against Kyrie Irving and the Celtics on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to steal a win on the road against the Boston Celtics on Thursday in part because of the defense they played on Kyrie Irving — or should I say because of the defense Brandon Ingram played on Irving.
In 35 minutes against the Lakers, Irving scored 24 points on 6-21 shooting from the field (28.6 percent). That is his third-worst field goal percentage in any game this season, according to basketball-reference.
In the nine possessions Irving was guarded by Ingram, Irving shot 2-8 from the field and turned the ball over twice, as noted by Lakers digital reporter Joey Ramirez. Ingram’s effort on defense earned him praise from his head coach, Luke Walton, and LeBron James following the game.

Laker Film Room: How the Lakers beat the Celtics, potentially saved their season - Silver Screen and Roll
Rajón Rondo completed an emotional comeback win as the Lakers beat the Celtics, 129-128. From LeBron James playing center, to Brandon Ingram making things difficult on Kyrie Irving, there were quite a few takeaways.
What a week. After nearly everyone but LeBron James was rumored to be traded during the (all too public) Anthony Davis negotiations, the Lakers pulled off a stunning 129-128 to victory the hated Boston Celtics at TD Garden. Rajon Rondo drilled a 17-foot jumper at the buzzer after the ball caromed around in the final seconds, inspiring cathartic primal screams from Lakers fans the world over.
The game certainly didn’t start out encouragingly though, as listless Lakers defense allowed Boston to have their way, culminating in a 53-35 Celtics lead early in the second quarter. To make matters worse, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were thoroughly outplaying Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma in the battle of young cores.
Luke Walton turned to LeBron James at the center position soon after that, altering the momentum of the game. Let’s take a closer look...

Kyrie Irving credits Brandon Ingram for "closing down the lane" in win over Celtics - Lakers Outsiders
The Los Angeles Lakers secured a huge win on Thursday night against their most hated rivals. On top of that, it brought them back to an above-.500 record with the hope that it will turn their season around and get them into the playoffs.
The 129-128 win was an offensive showcase by both teams, especially the Lakers who hit a franchise-record 22 3-pointers in the game. But it was defense from one specific player on the Lakers that was the talk of the Celtics after the matchup...

Watch: Rajon Rondo hits buzzer-beater against Celtics, credits Luke Walton for keeping team together - Lakers Outsiders
Thursday was an eventful and stressful day around the Los Angeles Lakers. After two weeks of rumors, the trade deadline came to a pass with most of the roster intact and only Svi Mykhailiuk, Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley as casualties.
With the thought of being traded at least momentarily behind the young Lakers, the team faced off against the Boston Celtics in what became an instant classic for the most storied rivalry in sports.
LeBron James’ first game as part of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry featured the purple and gold falling behind by as many as 18 points in the first half before clawing their ways back through some hot 3-point shooting. The Lakers hit a franchise record 22 of their 41 attempts from behind the arc.

Podcast: Lakers beat Celtics on Rajon Rondo's game-winner; NBA trade deadline recap - Lakers Outsiders
After the rollercoaster ride that was the NBA trade deadline week for the Los Angeles Lakers, they came away with something that most people didn’t expect: a potentially season-altering win against the Boston Celtics.
Late game heroics from Rajon Rondo, who hit a jumper at the buzzer, gave the Lakers a massive 129-128 in Boston. Rondo delivered the dagger to the heart of the team he spent nearly a decade with, washing away the utter disgust of a 42-point annihilation at the hands of the Indiana Pacers just 48 hours earlier.
The win comes fresh off a trade deadline that saw nearly half the roster publicly offered to the New Orleans Pelicans for Anthony Davis, only for a deal not to be completed. The Lakers followed it up by acquiring Reggie Bullock from the Detroit Pistons, along with Mike Muscala from the Clippers.
Gary Kester and Honi Ahmadian sat down to discuss the thrilling win in Boston and recap an eventful NBA trade deadline for the Lakers.

Lakers vs. Celtics Final Score: L.A. overcomes trade rumors, beats Boston on Rajon Rondo buzzer-beater - Silver Screen and Roll
The Lakers started slow, but competed, set a franchise record for threes, and won in Boston thanks to Rajon Rondo and LeBron James.
In the first game after the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers looked ready to get blown out with the built-in excuse that their chemistry was still reeling following all the speculation and rumors that swirled around the team. Then, LeBron James woke up and the rest of the team followed suit.
Then due to some late heroics from James, huge threes from Kyle Kuzma and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and a gigantic game-winning buzzer-beater from Rajon Rondo, the Lakers were able to pull out a 129-128 victory in Boston
As basic as such analysis might seem, the Lakers really tend to rise to the amount of energy James plays with. If his energy dips, the Lakers look like one of the worst teams in the NBA. As his energy picks, up, they tend to follow suit. The difference between the first and second quarters Thursday night speak exactly to this phenomenon.

Lakers vs. Celtics - Game Recap - February 7, 2019 - ESPN
BOSTON -- Rajon Rondo hit a 20-foot jumper as time expired to lift the Los Angeles Lakers over the Boston Celtics, 129-128 on Thursday night.
LeBron James had 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists. Kyle Kuzma added 25 points and Rondo had 17 points and 10 assists to help Los Angeles bounce back after a 42-point loss at Indiana on Tuesday.
Rondo was in the right place at the right time for his final shot against the team he won an NBA title with in 2008. Brandon Ingram had his layup attempt blocked by Al Horford, but Horford whiffed on the rebound and the ball bounced into Rondo's hands.

Rajon Rondo Bashes NBA After Suspension: "Everybody Wants to Believe Chris Paul is a Good Guy" - Lakers Outsiders
When the Los Angeles Lakers returned to practice on Monday for the first time since the NBA handed out suspensions to Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram for their roles in a brawl against the Houston Rockets, Rondo was not talkative about the incident. Tuesday was different.
Rondo spoke to ESPN LA about the NBA claiming he had spat on Chris Paul, instigating the fight. As had been the case before the extra punishments were given, Rondo denied the allegations...

Rajon Rondo of Los Angeles Lakers denies intentionally spitting on Chris Paul of Houston Rockets
Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo on Tuesday continued to deny that he intentionally spit at Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul during Saturday's brawl that resulted in suspensions for three players.
Rondo again pointed to the fact that he was wearing a mouthguard, which would impact his ability to intentionally spit on someone, and said the league catered to Paul's "good guy" image when deciding the length of the bans.

Rajon Rondo still says he didn’t spit on Chris Paul, says Paul is ‘a horrible teammate’ - Silver Screen and Roll
Rajon Rondo went off when asked about the incident over the weekend that has cost the Lakers guard three games and Chris Paul two.
Rajon Rondo did not hold back at all when asked about the altercation that took place Saturday night and has cost him three games and Chris Paul only two. Let’s just say he isn’t thrilled about those punishments, nor how the two point guards have been spoken about since they came to blows.
He started by repeating his claim to ESPN that he never spat at Paul, who says that started the entire altercation.
“Look at my body language [in the video]. My hands on my hips. I turn away for a second. Look at Eric [Gordon] and Melo [Carmelo Anthony] in the video. If they saw me spit, they would have turned their face up or something. They had no reaction.”
He continued his explanation of his side of the events.
