“Forgive me, Captain," FRIDAY said. "I needed a moment to be certain I hadn’t erred, but based on my facial recognition systems, I can safely say that Mr. Barnes and Mr. Wilson have located Tony.”

“What the fuck?” Bucky rose to his feet.

The kid tried to run, but Sam caught the rugrat and restrained him.

“Let me go!” The kid struggled. “My dad isn’t going to pay any ransom. You’re just wasting your time.”

Ransom? Facial recognition?

Bucky stared at the kid—really looked at his face.

Amber eyes, oval face, olive skin, strong but narrow chin, a slightly larger than normal forehead, and a nose somewhere between small and medium in size.

“Oh, fuck. Tony?”

The tears were back in Tony’s eyes. “Fuck you, you assholes!” He wiggled one arm free and punched Sam in the kneecap.

“I can’t be pregnant. I’m 47 years old, it’s not possible. I haven’t had a heat in over eight months, I’m menopausal, I can’t be pregnant.”

Tony passes out a lot. Somehow, Barnes gets involved.

Bucky Barnes and the Winter Soldier are two halves of the same whole and after some early misunderstandings, they get along. They're not necessarily of two minds about everything but they agree about the important things.

Canon divergent from just before the airport fight.

Bucky and Steve work at a coffee shop. Tony meets them when they actually make his insanely caffeinated order. Sparks fly and pants drop. 50% Actual Porn, 40% Schmoop, 10% clothes & coffee porn.

He thinks maybe he should be unsettled by the impact she’s had on him.

Thinks maybe it should chafe.

That maybe it should remind him of HYDRA and having his choices, his will, ripped away from him.

It doesn’t.

She doesn’t.

It, she, the memory of her, feels like choice.

“That’s a damn shame,” Tony says, voice practically dripping with insincerity. He has zero interest in playing whatever party game Wilson’s come up with in order to try and boost team morale.

Tony already knows how well that particular situation would likely play out if he was involved.

“They engaged in the game known as Secret Santa,” FRIDY keeps going. “Since you were not available the last name in the pot was to be assigned to you automatically.”

“Of course it was,” Tony waves a hand absently in the air around him. “Look FRI you can pick whatever for whoever I’m getting saddled with and be done with it. Just … throw some money at them or something. I don’t actually care.”

“Actually, Boss,” FRIDAY cuts in. “I believe you’re going to want to handle this one on your own.”

Tony isn’t actually sure which of them starts it—he’d like to take credit, but if he’s learned anything it’s that Barnes is by no means a wilting flower. Besides, the start doesn’t matter as much as figuring out who’s going to actually finish it.

This is basically a Winter/Iron AU about a buzzfeed article in which a model is trolled by his sister and her toddler son recreating his photos. Taking place in the range of Iron Man (post accident, Tony returns from Afghanistan and obtains a kid), this is an AU in which Tony is not related to Bucky, he's just a single dad (to Peter) who apparently likes to play dress up with his son instead of go to board meetings. Steve and James are their usual BFFs, and Steve claims all the credit in the world for:
1. getting Bucky off his couch and out into the world
a. so he could get his new prosthetic arm
b. so he could get a job modeling which he actually enjoys
2. showing Bucky the parody instagram featuring this adorable kid, some expensive clothes, a robot, and sometimes a super hot guy that might be said adorable kid's very single dad.
In short? Steve's the best friend ever.

Tony Stark shows up at Bucky's bar after a really tough break up and Bucky decides to look after him.

“I'm serious, Stevie.”

“I know you are,” Steve said, but he had that stupid little grin that meant he absolutely did not know how serious Bucky was. “I'm sure you'll be very good for each other.”

Bucky scoffed. “No shit. I'm not marrying him on a whim."

“You're not even dating him yet,” Steve pointed out oh-so-helpfully.

When the Rogues come home it leaves Tony in the dreaded position of keeping an eye on them - all up close and personal after the events of Civil War.

Whether the Rogues are pretending to play nice; delusional beyond explanation or high-and-mighty on arrival. Tony finds back-up and solace, in the one person he didn't expect: James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier.
