Handshake
About:
"Handshake is a decentralized, permissionless naming protocol compatible with DNS where every peer is validating and in charge of managing the root zone with the goal of creating an alternative to existing Certificate Authorities. Its purpose is not to replace the DNS protocol, but to replace the root zone file and the root servers with a public commons.

The Handshake protocol maintains the root zone file in a decentralized manner, making the root zone uncensorable, permissionless, and free of gatekeepers.

Handshake uses a coin system for name registration. The Handshake coin (HNS) is the mechanism by which participants transfer, register, and update internet names. Upon launch of the mainnet, the community will be able to initiate auctions and place bids for top-level domains using HNS or trade their HNS as they see fit. This is necessary to prevent spam on the peer-to-peer network."

GreenWaves Technologie
About:
"GreenWaves Technologies is a fabless semiconductor company based just outside Grenoble, France. We were formed in 2014 with the mission of revolutionizing intelligent sensors and devices. We have developed GAP8, an ultra-low power IoT Application Processor. GAP8 enables devices to interpret and act on image, motion and sound data at low energy levels. It allow years of operation on batteries bringing low installation and operation costs.
[...]
GreenWaves is one of a growing group of semiconductor design companies that is committing to Open Source projects. We believe that this both advances innovation and provides customers with confidence in their decision to commit to our products. We are actively participating in two Open Source projects that provide some of the components in GAP8’s design and without which GAP8 would not exist, the RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and Parallel Ultra Low Power (PULP) projects."

PULP platform
About:
"The Parallel Ultra Low Power (PULP) Platform started as a joint effort between the Integrated Systems Laboratory (IIS) of ETH Zürich and Energy-efficient Embedded Systems (EEES) group of the University of Bologna in 2013 to explore new and efficient architectures for ultra-low-power processing.
[...]
Our aim is to develop an open, scalable hardware and software research and development platform with the goal to break the energy efficiency barrier within a power envelope of a few milliwatts, as well as satisfy the computational demands of IoT applications requiring flexible processing of data streams generated by multiple sensors, such as accelerometers, low-resolution cameras, microphone arrays and vital signs monitors.
[...]
PULP includes a state-of-the-art microcontroller system and a multi-core platform able to achieve leading-edge energy-efficiency and widely-tunable performance. Compared to single-core microcontroller units, a parallel ultra-low-power programmable architecture allows meeting the computational requirements of IoT applications, without exceeding the power envelope of a few milliwatts typical of miniaturized, battery-powered systems.
[...]
We have intentionally taken an open-source approach from the very onset of the project and so far, we have released efficient 32 and 64bit implementations based on the open-source RISC-V instruction set architecture, peripherals and complete systems starting from simple micro-controllers, to the state-of-the-art OPENPULP release which sets a new bar for low-power multicore IoT processors. Additionally, PULP supports multiple application programming interfaces such as OpenMP, OpenCL and OpenVX that allow agile application porting, development, performance tuning and debugging."

‘Open-hardware’ pioneers push for low-cost lab kit : Nature News & Comment
But other scientists’ reluctance to dive into DIY may stem from doubts about whether open hardware can faithfully produce the validated, standardized performance of commercial equipment. Too often, the documentation that accompanies designs — intended to calibrate the equipment’s performance against known standards and describe its use — is unclear or incomplete, conference attendees heard. A community-standard or best-practice guide could use a checklist to ensure that designers cover all the necessary bases, says Wenzel. “It needs to be something that says: ‘if you follow this procedure, this will work and you’ll be able to get high precision, high accuracy and low error’,” says Pearce.

Oyranos | Colour Management System
About:
"Colour Management System (CMS) on operating system level. It allows to match predictably input device colours to output device colours across supporting applications. One goal is to make colour management useful for all users in a automated fashion and regardless of any technical knowledge.

Oyranos is based one the well established ICC standard and various other specifications. System wide settings in Oyranos shall ensure consistency in a portable fashion. Oyranos provides a Colour Matching Module (CMM) framework. Users can transparently select a desired colour engine with it."

Also got ported on mobile (Android). Main developer Kai-Uwe Behrmann.

Earth-friendly EOMA68 Computing Devices - Shenzhen Maker Faire 10-12 November 2017 | Crowd Supply
Links to reprap board: due to Chinese cloners and Western proprietary companies, a lot of the reprap and Open Hardware contributors are going underground to avoid abuse and false blame. Unsure of solution. :(
