Sen. Mark Kirk calls Lindsey Graham a 'bro with no ho' - Nick Gass - POLITICO
According to his Senate colleague Mark Kirk, Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is a “bro with no ho.”

Kirk made the remark about Graham during a Senate Appropriations Committee markup session on Thursday. The Huffington Post, which first reported on the comment, posted audio of the hot mic incident.

“I’ve been joking with Lindsey,” Kirk said, according to the audio. “Did you see that? He’s going to have a rotating first lady. He’s a bro with no ho.”

Kirk’s office told HuffPost that the Illinois Republican had been “joking around with his colleagues.”

Graham has made light of his bachelorhood, joking this week that if he wins the presidency, he would have a “rotating first lady.” The 59-year-old South Carolina senator has never married and has no children.

Speaker John Boehner Hosts Supporters Of Russia's Anti-Gay Law In House Office Building, Organizers Say
The office of House Speaker John Boehner secured meeting space for the World Congress of Families after their original sponsor, Illinois Sen. Mark Kirk, canceled their space in a Senate office building following an outcry from LGBT activists, the group’s leader said.

World Congress of Families President Allan Carlson praised Boehner’s intervention at in opening remarks at the event, which is focusing on what “pro-family legislators” can learn from foreign laws like Russia’s ban on “promoting non-traditional sexual relationships to minors.”

“At least in the House of Representatives people have not succumbed to the great fear” of LGBT activists, Carlson said, likening the situation to developments in Germany, France, and Italy as fascism took hold of Europe. “A great fear seems to be descending over what has been called the world’s greatest deliberative body … ideas are being suppressed, debate is being shut off, and minds are being closed.”

Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said that providing space for the event did not suggest the speaker is necessarily in support of their views in a statement to BuzzFeed.

“One of the duties of the Speaker’s office is scheduling rooms throughout the Capitol complex, and we routinely provide a forum for discussion of public policy issues from across the political spectrum, including for liberal causes,” Steel said. “This administrative task obviously does not imply endorsement of any particular point of view.”

BBC News - Republican Senator Mark Kirk backs gay marriage
Senator Mark Kirk has become the latest US lawmaker and second Republican senator to back gay marriage.

In a statement, the Illinois senator said civil marriage should be available to same-sex couples.

Sen Kirk, first elected in 2010, returned to Congress in January after almost a year away following a stroke.

A bevy of US lawmakers have backed gay marriage in recent weeks, reflecting a rapid rise in public support for same-sex marriage.

Last week, the US Supreme Court heard two major cases related to same-sex marriage, one challenging a California ban and the other challenging a federal law restricting tax and other marriage benefits to opposite-sex couples only. The court is expected to issue rulings in June.

Eight Democratic senators have spoken out in support of gay marriage within the last week. In mid-March Ohio Senator Rob Portman became the first Republican senator to support same-sex nuptials, two years after his son told him he was gay.

Progress Illinois: In Post-Citizens United Era, Kirk Cashes In
Progress Illinois has an article on Congressman Mark Kirk's fundraising post-Citizen's United.

"The Sunlight Foundation has been tracking all of the reported spending by outside groups in this season's federal campaigns. According to their data, which Capitol Fax highlighted this morning, independent groups have already dished out roughly $3.7 million attacking Kirk's rival, Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Alexi Giannoulias. All but $290,000 of that total came from American Crossroads, a 527 group founded in March by Karl Rove, and its tax-exempt partner Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies. Neither arm of the operation will disclose its donors. Following the Citizens United U.S. Supreme Court decision, corporations and rich donors can give unlimited cash to these groups. Kirk seems to be cashing in. "
