Amazon on Thursday announced a new self-service loyalty offering called Amazon Moments, which doles out both physical and digital rewards for marketers that are fulfilled, shipped and delivered by the online retailing giant. The cross-platform feature, rolling out to more than 100 countries and available on iOS, Android and more, marks another ramp-up in the Seattle-based company's attempts to attract more brand dollars by building out digital and mobile-first products that are focused on simplicity — with Amazon doing heavy lifting on the back end — and that tie back to its e-commerce platform.

Starbucks touted its increased digital sales, along with healthier menu offerings and cold beverages, as major drivers of growth during the quarter. The company also noted that its loyalty rewards program’s enrollment reached 16.3 million — a year-over-year increase of 14 percent.

“This result was driven by leveraging our increased digital reach, as well as a more seamless customer onboarding experience, greater mobile-order and pay adoption, and enhanced personalization features. Between digitally registered and active [rewards] customers, we are now approaching 30 million digital connections in the U.S,” Johnson said.

More than 4 in 5 Tesla customers — 80.5 percent – buy or lease another Tesla when they return to market. Tesla has the highest level of make loyalty in the industry, ahead of Subaru at 72.1 percent and Ford at 72 percent.” Experian also found that, “Tesla led the industry with a Conquest/Defection ratio of 13.77 to 1.”

At the end of the day, bigger may not actually be better when it comes to an engaged audience. Instead of chasing pageview goals this year, I’d love to see more teams focusing on how to increase time on site or pages per visit. I’d love to see more newsrooms talking about how they deliberately plan to move a user from a mobile app to a podcast to a newsletter and back to the mobile site all in the same day or week.

Declining social traffic for everyone, plus the shift to more organic/direct traffic, means loyalty and retention are increasing in priority for publishers. This could mean embracing a paid audience through subscription or membership programs. But it could also mean focusing on habit-forming products like podcasts and newsletters.

Uber pushes back at Lyft with a loyalty program of its own | Mobile Marketer
Uber Rewards has four membership levels — Blue, Gold, Platinum and Diamond — that riders can earn for every six months of participation after the sign-up date. Members earn one point for every eligible dollar spent on UberPool and Uber Eats orders; two points for UberX, UberXL, Select and WAV; and three points for the luxury rides Black and Black SUV.
Each level of membership offers more benefits, including refunds on some cancellation fees, priority customer service support, price protection on favorite routes, reduced pickup times at airports, free food deliveries, luxury rides and access to top drivers. In areas where Uber Rewards isn't yet available, the company is letting users accumulate points that count toward future membership.
