Build Your Own Clapper for About $6 [DIY]
The Clapper is one of those weird devices that is fun to use even if it's a sure sign of absolute laziness. To counter the laziness, you can build one yourself. Hacker and blogger Alan did it on the cheap using an ATtiny and a few other parts. More »

How can I get my lazy friends to understand that it's them and not "the economy" that is preventing them from landing a job? : AskReddit
I have 2 friends in their mid 20's both with multiple, "good" degrees, BA+ Masters, in professional fields (Read: Not English). Instead of actually looking for work or "downgrading" to any sort of position that pays less than 1 million dollars, they sit around and drink and play video games all day.<br />
Then they complain how messed up the economy is, and how they can't find work (They are MORE than qualified for any number of positions, they just seem to feel really, really entitled and won't touch anything that isn't a golden goose. And I don't mean they should be getting fast food jobs or anything, they have MANY other opportunities). I don't particularly care that they're not working, but how can I shine some light on them to get them to stop complaining? They put away 12 beers to a bottle of liquor a day and basically play online games on Vent 24/7 - there is never any 'real' search effort beyond maybe emailing a resume out every few days.

"I divide my officers into four groups. There are clever, diligent, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and diligent -- their place is the General Staff. The next lot are stupid and lazy -- they make up 90 percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the intellectual clarity and the composure necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is stupid and diligent -- he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always cause only mischief."
