Watch Greta Van Fleet Rock “When the Curtain Falls” in Canada | Video | Consequence of Sound
The band has been breaking chart records in Canada since last year
The quick rise to fame by Michigan rockers Greta Van Fleet has been remarkable, as the young band makes its mark throughout the world. But Canada just may be the place where the band has made the most impact.
“When the Curtain Falls”, the first single off the band’s recently released debut album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army, has spent an incredible 13 weeks at No. 1 on rock radio in Canada, which followed similar chart-topping feats by earlier tracks “Highway Tune” and “Safari Song”. Overall, Greta Van Fleet have spent 27 weeks at No. 1 on Canadian rock radio in 2018, breaking a record for a calendar year previously shared by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.
Canada’s enthusiasm for Greta Van Fleet is seen in a new live video for “When the Curtain Falls”, captured at the band’s first-ever Canadian gig, at the Rebel in Toronto this past July. The clip, premiering right here at Consequence of Sound and Heavy Consequence, can be seen below.

Aerosmith - 'Draw the Line' (1977): On Second Thought | Something Else!
...Released December 1977, Draw the Line (Columbia Records) indeed proved to be a rather slovenly offering. Yet in hindsight, the album frequently fizzes with the kind of manic energy the punk bands of the day were peddling. Rather than polish and pamper their material and adopt a soft-rock approach as many of their contemporaries were doing at this point, Aerosmith were recklessly raw and ragged.
The strongest song on Draw the Line is easily the title track. Propelled by a fast-paced blues groove, pierced with slippery slide guitar action and a body-slamming hook, the romping rocker presents Aerosmith right in their element...

Myles Kennedy on Solo Disc, Reconvening With Slash + Alter Bridge Plans | Consequence of Sound
"Next year might be the busiest year I've ever had, which is a good thing"
Myles Kennedy wears a number of musical hats, as the frontman of hard rockers Alter Bridge and lead vocalist in the group Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Now, Kennedy can add solo artist to his résumé, as he released his debut solo album, the stripped-down Year of the Tiger, earlier this year.
The singer-guitarist has been out touring in support of Year of the Tiger, with a new fall leg running from mid-November through mid-December. He also has commitments touring with Slash and, come next year, writing and recording Alter Bridge’s new album.

Deep Purple Albums Ranked From Worst To Best | Louder
From iconic albums to the one Ritchie Blackmore dubbed "cattle grazing", we explore the best and worst of Deep Purple
The story of Deep Purple is truly one of rock’s great soap operas. (No wonder they decided to put Fairy Liquid bubbles on the cover of 1973 album Who Do We Think We Are.) The band’s roots can be traced back to ’68 (some say ’67) when Searchers drummer Chris Curtis contacted London businessman Tony Edwards to pitch the idea of creating a British rock supergroup. Curtis had the foresight, but he also had a penchant for LSD and unpredictable behaviour – as evinced by his decision in ’69 to quit the music business and join the Inland Revenue. (Boy, were people’s tax returns fucked up that year.)
Still, Edwards took up the baton. In cahoots with partner John Coletta, and along with a hot young keyboard player called Jon Lord, he began recruiting musicians to realise Curtis’s somewhat frazzled vision. Briefly called Roundabout (a remnant of Curtis’s plan to form a band around a small core of players, they would be joined by a revolving guest-cast who’d jump on and off a musical ‘roundabout’), Deep Purple debuted in ’68 with their Shades Of… album. Fearsome tracks such as Mandrake Root and the cover of Hush promised much, but something was amiss; in truth, they couldn’t decide whether they wanted to be Iron Butterfly or the Moody Blues, plus singer Rod Evans’s style was grounded in the hip-swinging 60s.
The arrival in ’69 of frontman Ian Gillan and bassist Roger Glover (replacing Nick Simper) improved things beyond belief. Thus the band’s classic Mk II line-up was born, the new pair joining Lord, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and drummer Ian Paice in a match made in heaven… and, later, hell. The Purps have always thrived on musical tension, but internal aggravation would eventually rip them asunder. Blackmore and Lord were at loggerheads initially; then the Man In Black turned his flinty-eyed attention to Gillan. Still, that didn’t prevent Mk II reuniting not once, but twice.
All that festering resentment seems a long time ago now, with the current DP line-up – Gillan, Glover, Paice, guitarist Steve Morse and keyboard player Don Airey – having enjoyed many years of stability. They’ve survived an ill-fated ‘funky period’ spearheaded by onetime bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes. They’ve reeled from the deaths of US guitarist Tommy Bolin, who some claim was badly suited (well, he did wear kaftans), and, more recently, Jon Lord. They’ve resisted the clamouring from a small but vociferous hard-core of fans to get Blackmore back in for one final fandango. (As has Ritchie himself, to be fair.)
Purple are patently Ian Gillan’s band these days, no matter how much he might claim democratic immunity. There follows a look back at an often stellar, sometimes stuttering, but always highly intriguing album career.

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: BADLANDS - Dusk [digitally remastered reissue]
To complete the BADLANDS discography, as requested, now we have here the digitally remastered reissue of "Dusk", the third and final album by the Jake E. Lee and Co.
"Dusk" is a collection of songs recorded by themselves in 1992-1993, for their 3rd LP.
All songs were recorded live into the studio, in one take. However, it's a professional 24-track full studio recording to be submitted to Atlantic Records to hear and give the band a budget for the full recording of the same tunes.
They did not like the direction of the songs, arguing the musical climate in the business was changing. Some months later Badlands was dropped from Atlantic.

And here's the other BADLANDS album - their second titled "Voodoo Highway"- remastered by Rock Candy Records, now with a complete 16 full color booklet including rare photos and a 4000+ full essay about the making of the record.
As happened with Badlands self-titled debut, these Rock Candy reissues were on sale only few months due to Ray Gillen's estate / family claim. So this "Badlands Voodoo Highway Rock Candy Remaster" was retired from the market and it's now a collectors item.

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: BADLANDS - Badlands +1 [Rock Candy Remastered] Out Of Print
This great album was requested again: BADLANDS first, self-titled album "Badlands" remastered by Rock Candy Records with a bonus track, now with a complete 16 full color booklet including rare photos and a 4000+ full essay about the making of the record.
The Rock Candy reissue appeared some years ago alongside Badlands' second record, and it was about time for these killer albums to receive a remaster and become available again as the original CD pressings were long time out of print being sold on eBay for a jillion dollars...
But guess what... both Badlands Rock Candy remasters were on sale only few months due to Ray Gillen's estate / family claim.
So this "Badlands Rock Candy Remaster" reissue was retired from the market and it's Out Of Print again.

Badlands:Voodoo Highway(1991) | Thunder Bay Arena Rock
Badlands follows up the fantastic debut album from 1989 in June of 1991 with Voodoo Highway.
Voodoo Highway features 13 tracks and one new member. Taking over the drum throne is Jeff Martin who replaced Eric Singer who basically bounced from band to band like Black Sabbath/Gary Moore/Badlands/Alice Cooper until our good friends Genie & Paul opened there wallets for Eric and he joined KISS.
Ray Gillen/Jake E Lee and Greg Chaisson go for a more fuller sound on the followup adding some cool Hammond Organ at times as well as more acoustic mashed with electric guitar like rock.
Different vibe than the straight ahead Zep/Bad Company mashup of the debut. Voodoo Highway is more Hard Blues Rock.

www.dimeadozen.org :: EzTorrent v0.7.0r484 :: Torrent details for "Badlands 1989-06-13 Nakano Sun Plaza Hall, Tokyo ("World Premier 1989" silver 2CD 84.25) EXCELLENT (PLUS) SOUND!"
...If the rather scarce information here <http://wimpwire.flexnes.com/399_badlands.htm> is correct, then the tape you saw would have to be sourced from 1992-07-01 Bristol, since that would be the only show that Debby Holiday POSSIBLY played with Badlands.
However, I find it rather suscpicious that I don't find any article on the web that would confirm she really played with them. Instead, the German Wikipedia article suggests she never did (however, it doesn't give any sources for that information). According to another article I found <http://gdm.glorydazemusic.com/articles.php?article_id=4111>, "Gillen was given the boot, a new singer, a woman no less - Canadian Debby Holiday signed on, gigs in the UK/Europe were booked, however Holiday quit due to a conflict with appearance money, Gillen was reluctantly bought back at short notice". Again, no sources are given. The existence of the tape you saw listed suggests these articles might be wrong. Anyway, even if it was from the Bristol gig, we don't know if it is listed as such. I fully agree with you, it would be fascinating to find and hear it!!!
Here's a nice report on next day's Badlands gig at Astoria and the huge tension on stage:
Take care,
...It's been confirmed that Debby Holiday was indeed their singer for a short period of time. They did at least several rehearsals together. Whether they also played live concerts, is not clear yet.

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: 1994 - Please Stand By... [Rock Candy remastered +4]
Fronted by the charismatic Karen Lawrence, 1994 were one, in a long list, of great North American female-fronted hard rock bands emerging on the back of the success of Heart and Pat Benatar. Their sophomore record "Please Stand By…" was one of the strongest albums in the genre from the era, superbly remastered by Rock Candy Records released for the first time on CD including 4 lovely bonus tracks.
Who couldn’t love the vocals of the lovely Karen Lawrence? A particularly versatile singer who could just as easily strip the paint off your woodwork with her throaty roar as caress your ears with her beautiful melodies. The main difference with 1994's debut was new guitarist Rick Armand (and bassist Bill Rhodes, who plays more guitar than bass here), resulting in a little more varied material.
The opening title-track is a great upbeat song, and the track the original LP ended with - the raucous ‘Keep Ravin’ On’, is perhaps the heaviest thing 1994 ever recorded.

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: 1994 - ST [Rock Candy Remastered +4]
1994 were one of the greatest North American hard rock bands that time and tide has indeed forgotten. Fortunately Rock Randy Records 'Remastered & Reloaded' the band's debut "1994", with four bonus tracks, an album you need to check if you love Heart / Ann Wilson.
Signed in a blaze of publicity to the mighty A&M label, produced by studio wizard Jack ‘Aerosmith’ Douglas and hailed as the next big thing, 1994 never quite made the commercial impact all had hoped for.
When released, Geoff Barton, writing for Sounds magazine (now Editor of Classic Rock Magazine), made no secret of his love for 1994’s self-titled debut album, acclaiming it as "one of the year's best releases – a deadly yet cool combination of Heart and Aerosmith".

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: RED DRAGON CARTEL - Patina [Japan Edition +1] (2018)
RED DRAGON CARTEL, the band led by former Ozzy Osbourne / Badlands guitarist Jake E. Lee will release its sophomore album "Patina", on November 9 via Frontiers Music. Tomorrow is the release date for this Japanese edition, including a bonus track.
The follow-up to Red Dragon Cartel's eponymous 2014 debut, "Patina" marks the group's first release with drummer Phil Varone (ex- Saigon Kick, Skid Row) and bassist Anthony Esposito (Lynch Mob). The band's current lineup is rounded out by singer Darren James Smith (ex- Harem Scarem).
With new music being released every week it's very easy to take things for granted and be somewhat spoilt for choice. But 3 or 4 times a year a release is announced that gets the excitement levels racing one such band for me is the rather splendid Red Dragon Cartelwith the guitar maestro Jake E Lee formerly of Ozzy Osbourne Band and the underrated outfit that should have been huge; Badlands.

Stream Greta Van Fleet – Anthem of the Peaceful Army | New Music | Consequence of Sound
The first full-length from the meteoric Michigan hard rockers
It’s been just over a year and a half since Greta Van Fleet exploded onto the scene with their debut single, “Highway Tune”. Two EPs and a number of hits later, the Michigan hard rockers have finally delivered their debut full-length album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army. Stream the entire thing below via Apple Music or Spotify.
Anthem was recorded in Nashville and Royal Oak, Michigan alongside production trio Marlon Young, Al Sutton and Herschel Boone (aka The Rust Brothers). The album’s 10 tracks were co-written by the four members of Greta Van Fleet: twins Josh (vocals) and Jake Kiszka (guitars), their brother Sam (bass), and drummer Danny Wagner. It follows the band’s pair of 2017 EPs, Black Smoke Rising and From the Fires.

Greta Van Fleet – Anthem of the Peaceful Army | Album Reviews | Consequence of Sound
The throwback rockers can resurrect the sounds of the past, but what about the future?
OCTOBER 19, 2018
The Lowdown: In the midst of a grueling 2018 tour schedule that’s found them wowing audiences on club and festival stages across North America and Europe, the classic rock torchbearers of Greta Van Fleet attempt to translate the buzzed-about bombast of their live shows into their debut full-length (75% of which was written during a whirlwind two-week stint in the studio).
The Good: Despite their weariness of the comparison, Greta Van Fleet remains preternaturally good at evoking the sonic world of the Zeppelin-ified ’70s; even without guitarist Jake Kiszka’s expertly bluesy solo work, frontman Josh Kiszka’s voice would naturally lead you to the conclusion that he’s somehow been pre-possessed by the ghost of Robert Plant.

0DAYROX ► Melodic Rock, AOR, Hard Rock, Prog, Classic Rock news: GRETA VAN FLEET - Anthem Of The Peaceful Army (2018)
One of the youngest, most promising classic rock new band from the scene, GRETA VAN FLEET, got ready their full length debut "Anthem Of The Peaceful Army" to be released tomorrow.
Collectively written by all four band members, the ten original songs explore a variety of topics that include fresh starts, love, integrity, innocence, adventure, diversity and peace, the life cycle and its inherent responsibilities, courage, masked deceptions, revolution, and truth.
Blending classic rock, soul and bluesy hard rock, Jake’s blazing guitar riffs, Josh’s soaring, powerful vocals, Danny’s thunderous drums, and Sam’s swaggering baselines and keys create a menagerie of musical elements throughout.
"Anthem Of The Peaceful Army" was produced by Marlon Young, Al Sutton and Herschel Boone (The Rust Brothers) and recorded earlier this year at Blackbird Studios in Nashville and Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak, Michigan.
