Jeff Bezos 'blackmail' claim puts focus on National Enquirer links to Trump
But Pecker [chief exec of the Enquirer's publisher] is also close to Trump, and AMI has admitted in the past that it engaged in a practice known as “catch-and-kill” – suppressing potentially damaging stories – to help Trump become president. Trump has also waged a running war of words against Bezos, owner of the Washington Post, which he frequently denounces as part of the “fake news media”.

The White House remained silent on the matter but two more threads raised questions about a potential association. In a TV interview, a Post reporter claimed that Bezos’s camp believes the National Enquirer’s conduct might have been politically motivated and that a “government entity” might have got hold of his text messages, though which government might be involved was not indicated.

No thank you, Mr. Pecker – Jeff Bezos – Medium
"Of course I don’t want personal photos published, but I also won’t participate in their well-known practice of blackmail, political favors, political attacks, and corruption."

'Join the badgers as we examine a power almost unique to women; the ability to leverage accusations of sexual misconduct for big payouts and political influence' -- Hannah: "...this socially and legally accepted blackmail is a weapon that is almost uniquely employed by women, almost uniquely against men. Even a woman's wounded sensibilities can be worth thousands on the open market if the right man can be deemed responsible." -- S/he who controls the price controls the victory

YouTube -- Turd Flinging Monkey: News: Sex Is About Power (TFM 42O)
"...It's very telling because here's the truth: Women don't want an objective standard [of sexual consent], they want to keep it fluid because they want the power to destroy your life for any reason after a sexual encounter. They want a loaded gun that they can use against you at any time for any reason. And so, if they give you consent, and you record it, they no longer have that gun; they can't threaten you with a rape accusation later and so they don't want that video to exist. The same as they don't want companies to establish a fixed [list of acceptable and unacceptable behaviours in the workplace] because they want to use that grey area to get what they want from men." -- https://www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/7867376/women-consent-videos-before-sex-recorded-accused-rape-assault/

Who’s Behind the Screencam Extortion Scam? — Krebs on Security
The sextortion email scam last month that invoked a real password used by each recipient and threatened to release embarrassing Webcam videos almost certainly was not the work of one criminal or even one group of criminals. Rather, it’s likely that additional spammers and scammers piled on with their own versions of the phishing email after noticing that some recipients were actually paying up. The truth is we may never find out who’s responsible, but it’s still fun to follow some promising leads and see where they take us.
On August 7, 2018, a user on the forum of free email service hMailServer posted a copy of the sextortion email he received, noting that it included a password he’d formerly used online.
Helpfully, this user pasted a great deal of information from the spam email message, including the domain name from which it was sent (williehowell-dot-com) and the Internet address of the server that sent the message (

New Hacked Phone + Partial Number Extortion Emails Making a Lot of Money
Earlier this month we reported on an ongoing extortion email campaign that emailed recipients their password and stated hackers had recorded the them over their webcam while they visited adult sites.
Over the past week, scammers are now utilizing a new extortion email campaign that claims the recipient's phone was hacked, includes a partial phone number of the recipient, and further states that they created videos using the recipient's webcam. It then demands $1,000 USD in bitcoins or the hacker will release the video and other information.
This new campaign was brought to my attention last week by security researcher SecGuru who has seen thousands of these email being distributed.

‘Big Soda’ Strong-Armed California Into Passing 12-Year Ban on Soda Taxes
In July, California’s legislature and governor faced an elegant — and legal — extortion threat. The American Beverage Association, funded by Coke and Pepsi, demanded immediate passage of legislation that preempts any soda taxes imposed by county or local governments for the next 12 years. If Gov. Jerry Brown (D) and the Democratic-controlled legislature refused, Big Soda would go forward with a ballot initiative this November that would severely limit any future tax increases at local and county levels. Brown blinked and signed the preemption law, averting what he saw as a larger, long-term danger.
But the governor’s action opened the door to other extortion schemes cooked up by well-funded corporate interests; Silicon Valley tech firms successfully used similar tactics to press for the removal of an initiative to protect online privacy rights.
