Carotid plaque was more frequently founded at the carotid bulb which is one of the most common sites of atherosclerotic plaque,18),19) and is thought to originate from endothelial damage caused by disturbances in local blood flow,20) which are influenced by bifurcation anatomy.21),22) However, the incidence of significant CAD was higher in patients with CCA plaque. This result suggests that CCA plaque may be more closely related to systemic atherosclerosis.

Motion sensing using the doppler effect in Javascript
Recently I stumbled upon an interesting paper for implementing motion sensing requiring no special hardware, only a speaker and mic! Unfortunately the paper didn't include code to test it, so I decided to reproduce it here on the web!

Motion sensing using the doppler effect
The most obvious application for this is motion sensing. Below I've calculated the left and right bandwidth of the 20 kHz region (defined as the number of frequencies to the left and right that are within 99.9% in amplitude of the 20 kHz tone). I've then attached their difference to the size of the box.

Doppler Gesture Sensing in JavaScript | Hackaday
[Daniel] stumbled on an interesting paper (which we featured before) on Doppler gesture sensing using only a computer’s speaker and microphone. Daniel’s JavaScript library generates a sine wave at 20 kHz that’s played through the computer’s speakers. The frequency is high enough that it’s pretty much inaudible. While the tone is being played through the speakers, the computer’s microphone is used to sample the audio and calculate the frequency spectrum of the signal. As you move your hand closer to the computer while the tone is playing, the frequency of the received signal shifts higher; as you move your hand away, it shifts lower. [Daniel]’s script looks for this frequency shift and uses it to trigger events.
