Your Brain at Home and at Work | LinkedIn
With self-awareness, you might say to yourself, “I’m about to make a scene with my anger by blowing up. But I sense discomfort or fear in the person I’m speaking to. Perhaps I should take a breath and reassess the situation.”

Can We Think Critically Anymore? | Big Think
Cognitive psychologist and neuroscientist Daniel Levitin would agree. In fact, he’s written an entire book on the subject. The author of insightful previous works, This Is Your Brain on Music and The Organized Mind, in A Field Guide to Lies: Critical Thinking in the Information Age he takes to task our seemingly growing inability to weigh multiple ideas in making informed decisions, relying instead on emotional reactivity clouded by invented statistics and murky evidence.

Daniel Franke - Medievalism, White Supremacy, and the Historian’s Craft: A Response
Our colleagues in Holocaust studies, who have some experience in combatting false historical narrative without necessarily adopting critical theory to do so, tend to be clear-headed about the central importance of “getting the factual basis right,” as Christopher Browning has argued. This does not mean that historians should look at the profession’s history with an uncritical eye, but it does mean recognizing the complexity and contingency of that history, and the robustness of the historical method. Our professional survival does not depend on converting to a particular theory or methodology, especially at the cost of historical accuracy. To surrender accuracy and nuance, however good the cause may be, is to surrender the greatest tool our profession has to combat extremism.
