Opinion: Re-elect DA O'Malley, the only qualified candidate
As for O’Malley, although she is clearly the superior candidate, there’s no excuse for her decision to accept $10,000 in campaign contributions from Fremont’s police union while her office investigated three cops’ actions in two fatal shootings last year.

Her decision to ask the state attorney general to review her findings in one of the cases doesn’t excuse her acceptance of the money. And then telling us that the decision to keep the money was made in discussions with her campaign advisors reveals a total abdication of her personal responsibility.

The district attorney’s actions should be above reproach and devoid of even the appearance of impropriety. This is a no-brainer: She should return the money — now.
