The Sentinel & Stargate SG-1: Top Dog series by Caro Dee
Summary: Jim and Blair are a couple and so are Jack and Daniel. Jim and Jack are also old friends and lovers. When the four of them get together, they play mix and match with each other.
Reccer's Notes: The first story started as a one-off ficlet written as a joke. There was enough feedback and requests for more that Caro added stories over the years. Enjoy.

The Sentinel: Snowman by Caro Dee
Summary: Blair reluctantly accompanies Jim on a skiing vacation, complaining all the way about the cold. But that all changes when he sees they've got a private sauna. Suddenly, he's spouting the benefits of using sauna and snow to clear out impurities and cheerfully explaining the process. But all Jim can see is that he's got a happy, willingly-naked Blair and things are looking up.
Reccer's Notes:Originally written for a Sentinel Thursday challenge highlighting the art of Steve Walker. Caro has put a link to the artwork in her author notes, and it is definitely inspiring. Enjoy.

The Sentinel: Surfer Moon by Caro Dee
Summary: Shortly after series end, Jim is trying to figure out how to get Blair out of his post-press conference funk. Since there are a couple of months before Blair can enter the police academy, Jim decides to surprise him with an indulgent vacation on a private beach in Southern California. However, Jim is in for a few surprises himself.
Reccer's Notes: Caro does a nice job balancing the angst of their unresolved issues, the resulting emotional turmoil, and the beauty of their surroundings. There's also a humorous homage to a character Richard Burgi played in another show. Enjoy.

The Sentinel: The Games People Play by Caro Dee
Summary: When a murder is committed at the home of a high society matron, the Mayor wants Simon's "best team" to solve it in a hurry.

How can solving a murder be considered humorous? When it's written as a Sentinel Thursday challenge to the prompt "games". Caro wove the names of 123 games into the story and invites the reader to find them all.
Reccer's Notes: Some of these are a real stretch, but very cute. In case you can't find them all, she's got the list in chapter two. Enjoy.

The Sentinel: The Ambivalent Series by Caro Dee
Summary: After the end of TSbyBS, Blair accepts the badge offer and goes to the academy, but Jim disappears. Not without a trace, though; he’s left a note to let Blair know that he’s simply tired of being the superhero and wants to get away from it all. But Blair can’t let go yet.
Reccer's Notes: It’s canon that Jim’s sentinel secret is revealed, but it happens during the very last episode. There's a lot left unresolved, both regarding what kind of future is ahead and what will happen to the friendship. As a result, there have been dozens, perhaps hundreds of stories that focus on the ramifications of the reveal. Caro’s interpretation is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s a much less-traveled path that is certainly credible.

The Sentinel Five Conversations with Jack That Surprised Jim… by Caro Dee
Summary: In the episode “Deep Water”, Jack was a minor character who had already been dead four years; although at first all we know is that he vanished with a million dollars of ransom money. We see him only in flashbacks; a veteran detective with a taste for nice clothes and partying hard, but all business on the job. He’s tapped to be Jim’s first partner when Jim transfers to Major Crime, with the hope that he will contain a sullen Jim who’s bordering on insubordination. What’s clear is that something happened between these partners; Jim remains loyal to Jack; always believing he was innocent of stealing the money. However, he has an uncomfortable secret and a fair amount of guilt surrounding Jack’s disappearance—he ended up sleeping with Emily, Jack’s ex-girlfriend, thereby missing Jack’s call for backup that night he disappeared. Now for the story…

In the vignettes that span the time that Jack and Jim were partners, we get insight into how their relationship developed on and off the job. Although Jim and Jack, in the manner of macho cops, joke about “sending the wrong message” and “fags”, there’s an undeniable pull building between them. When a drunk Jack suggests a threesome with Emily, Jim for the first time seriously considers that she might be the conduit to help him explore deeper feelings for Jack.
Reccer's Notes: The threesome here has an unusual twist. Anyone who’s seen the show will appreciate Caro’s deft weaving of canon throughout and her leaps of speculation based on the little episode glimpses available. For those who haven’t seen “Deep Water”, the summary of the episode should help.

The Sentinel: Five Conversations with Jack that Surprised Jim (and one that never happened)
Author’s Summary: Things were a little more complicated with Jack than Jim told Blair.
Reccer's Notes: Jack Pendergrast, who we only see in flashbacks during the episode “Deep Water”, was Jim’s partner when Jim first came to Major Crime. It’s canon that Jack mentored Jim and that Jim greatly admired Jack. When Jack disappeared during a kidnapping/ransom that went sour, everyone but Jim believed the worst of Jack. Written for the TS Ficathon.
