Autism and Consent | The Artism Spectrum
"When I first moved to New York City I started making friends in the polyamory community. They’re very welcoming people, tolerant of weirdness, and surprisingly autism-friendly because of their obsession with clear communication."

'Don't touch my baby': mothers warn
By Dong Sun-hwa

It is not rare to spot strangers touching the cheeks or holding hands of babies, saying they are adorable, even without seeking the consent of their parents or guardians.

Numerous Korean mothers become upset when strangers try to touch their babies, with the uncalled-for act triggering a flood of posts on mothers' online communities asking for ways to deal with strangers who touch and cuddle infants.

"I was strolling along with my baby when I bumped into a pedestrian who touched my baby ― can someone tell me how to handle such people? I do not want any unknown people to touch my baby," wrote one mother.

Several mothers responded that they would directly tell strangers not to touch, although it was quite challenging to do so at first.

"Once, a stranger was furious and asked me why I was preventing him from touching," one mother said.

Experts say the mothers are right to stop these strangers.

"People usually touch babies with their hands, which could pass on infectious diseases," said a pediatrician. "So babies could be easily exposed to illnesses."
