BMW Vision M Next Concept – Driver-Focused Hybrid Supercar
BMW's latest concept imagines an automotive future with an emphasis on driving, not autonomy.
The BMW Vision M Next is a new plug-in-hybrid concept car that BMW says is the future of "sporty driving."
The extremely futuristic design has a number of retro cues taken from the M1 of the late 1970s.
BMW says it's a taste of the M brand's electric future, and we think it might preview a production supercar.
What you see here is the BMW Vision M Next concept, a quite absurd-looking hybrid supercar that BMW says is "a take on how driving pleasure might look in the future." It's the latest in BMW's string of concept cars under the Vision Next name, which was started in 2016 by the Vision Next 100 and continued in 2018 by the Vision iNext.

2021 BMW M3 and M4 – New G20-Generation M Models
Here's what we know about the new G20 generation of the M division's bread-and-butter models.
The next-generation BMW M3 and M4 are forthcoming, and here's what we know about them.
They will continue to be hotted-up versions of the standard 3-series sedan and 4-series coupe and convertible, and they will likely use BMW's new S58 inline-six with up to 503 horsepower.
Expect to hear more about the M3 and M4 in 2020, since the cars are scheduled to go on sale as 2021 models.
The seventh-generation 3-series (G20) is here, which means the next M3 and M4 will arrive soon. Slated for simultaneous unveilings in mid-2020 followed by a market launch for the 2021 model year, both the G20's M3 and M4 derivatives should benefit from more reengineering that may bring the magic back to the 3-series. In keeping with tradition, BMW will thoroughly retune and stiffen the M3/M4 chassis, meaning that the steering may get even more engaging. But that will be just the start.
Details are scant at this point, but we know that the next M3 and M4 will be differentiated from the base 3- and 4-series at least as much as the current M cars are. Expect to see spoilers, diffusers, flared fenders, gaping air intakes, bulging hoods, and wheels and tires sized 19 inches and up. As with the current generation, the M3 and M4 will offer exclusive color and trim choices, and the instrument cluster will be programmed to visually reflect BMW's racing heritage.

2020 Toyota Supra vs. Porsche 718 Cayman vs. BMW M2 Competition: Sports Car Comparison - MotorTrend
Supra Bowl: The reborn Toyota sports car takes on titans from Porsche and BMW
Here in Los Angeles, we know a lot about the sometimes fickle nature of football franchises. The Rams have returned from their St. Louis affair, and somehow we stole the Chargers from San Diego—although our onetime resident Raiders are once again the noisy neighbors to the north. So, you can say L.A. is a football town, even if the history is patchy.
To continue the analogy, you could also say Toyota City, Japan, is a sports car town with an equally patchy history. It'll make performance cars, then stop, then start again. This year, we welcome a new hometown hero—albeit one with shared heritage with an old-school sports car town in Germany—in the 2020 Toyota Supra.
With its shared German-Japanese DNA, the Supra makes a natural rival with a pair of league stalwarts with many championships between them: the Porsche Cayman and BMW M2 Competition. And they aren't about to let the new guy show them up.
First things first: Does the Supra move like a German car or a Japanese one? It's not dead flat around a corner like a track car. There's body roll when you crack the wheel, but it's quick, perfectly controlled, and deliberate. Dashing though a slalom section of mountain road, the Supra shifts its weight side to side like a barrel racing champion. The steering is super quick and has absolutely zero dead spots, so every movement you make on the wheel directly translates into precision and accuracy on the road. It lacks the feel of the best sports cars, but that's its only concession.
The standard adaptive dampers do a phenomenal Jekyll and Hyde routine, compliant and comfortable on the commute then appropriately stiff when you press Sport on the center console. Rather than fade, the brakes like heat, though the rear end gets light under hard braking from high speeds. Getting up to pace is easy, too, because the power delivery is smooth and linear all the way up.

2019 BMW M5 Competition – A Subtly Sharpened M5
A marginally better M5 is still a better M5.
This review has been updated with test results.
After the mild disappointment of its emotion-lite predecessor, the current 2019 BMW M5 marks a welcome return to form for the Motorsport division's biggest sedan. (We're not even going to pretend that the M760i qualifies as a true M car.) But BMW's model-development program moves to a staccato drumbeat these days, and we're now driven to focus on the new, fractionally turned-up Competition version.
The new car marks the transition from an option package to a separate trim level, one that's hairier than the standard M5 but some way short of the black-hearted transformation wrought to BMW models such as the M3 CS or the M4 GTS. Unlike the new M2 Competition, the M5 Competition doesn't replace the regular M5. Instead it will be sold alongside it, carrying a $7300 premium and boasting a modest increase in power, firmer suspension settings, and some very subtle cosmetic tweaks—the most obvious being the Competition label that now appears beneath the M5 badge on the decklid.

The Coolest New Cars For 2019 – Forbes
Though sport-utility vehicles and pickup trucks now account for the lion's share of new-vehicle sales, the reports of the passenger car's death have been greatly exaggerated.
1
Aston Martin DBS Superleggera.
Aston Martin brings back and combines two famed nameplates from its storied history for its new flagship coupe, the DBS Superleggera. Gorgeously styled with fluidly flowing bodywork crafted from carbon fiber, it’s 2+2 interior is equally appealing, with front-seat occupants treated to sports seats upholstered in supple “aromatic” leather and Alcantara.
A 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine generates a mighty 715 horsepower and, assisted by a performance-enhanced eight-speed automatic transmission, can launch the car to 62 mph in a sudden 3.4 seconds and hit a terrifying top speed of 211 mph. Riding on 21-inch rims and Pirelli P-Zero performance tires, and with assorted performance-enhancing systems at hand, the car is engineered to hug the corners as tightly as a toddler with a teddy bear.

The E30 BMW M3 Sport Evolution of Matthias Unger
For Matthias Unger, the season when the leaves of the forests change from a rich yellow to a bright red has a very special charm. He utilises the last rays of the sun by grabbing his amazingly simple M logo-bearing ignition key and heads to his garage. Awaiting him here is a very special automobile. Matthias Unger's BMW M3 Sport Evolution from 1990 is to this day an irreplaceable piece of motorsport history with road approval. We accompanied him on a drive and were able to experience what it means to take to the road with an almost three-decades-old sports car.
„ The enthusiasm began with my father’s BMW 323i from 1984. In 1988 I turned 18 and was passionate about being allowed to drive it myself.” “

Hot Wheels x Supreme Collaboration: Yep. – theLamleyGroup
Yes, this is real. It will be sold exclusively on the Supreme website sometime this spring. A great choice in model, simple Supreme deco, and the coolest thing? 90’s Era Hot Wheels car art.
This definitely hints at a collaboration trend that has this guy VERY excited. Hot Wheels transcends, and this is more evidence. I love it.

2019 BMW M2 Competition Review: Bimmer's Sports Coupe Borrows a Cup of Horsepower from M3, M4 - The Drive
It costs $4,400 more than before, but the new M2 Competition shows how seriously BMW is taking its reputation.
How agile and effective was the BMW M2 Coupe? Well, it almost managed to quiet the choir-preachers of the automotive press, for whom every BMW story must begin with a lazy reverie for the brand’s Good Old Days—larded with shopworn words like “iconic,” “seminal” and “E36”— followed by the shocking observation that BMW also makes SUVs now, some quite popular. Considering the satisfaction the M2 supplied auto scribes and enthusiasts in 2017, you might think BMW wouldn’t touch a thing, at least for a few years. Instead, the 2019 BMW M2 Competition is an ultimate hedge against complacency, via a Jeffersonian strategy of status improvement—referring to the sitcom family, not the founding father—that some automakers have avoided lest they muddy their own showroom waters.
This M2 Competition moves up in BMW Welt, knocks on the door of its luxurious neighbors, the larger M3 sedan and M4 Coupe, and borrows some mechanical sugar—their rollicking twin-turbo inline-six dubbed the S55, which replaces the “old” M2’s single-turbo, N55 inline-six—for a freak-out rush. The M Division engine’s output is nominally detuned to 405 horsepower for this competitive-minded M2 (down from 425 in the M3/M4), but torque is unchanged at 406 pound-feet. Compared with the M2 Coupe that the M2 Competition flat-out replaces, those are hefty gains of 40 horsepower and 37 pound-feet. And it’s not like the M2 Coupe was ever slow; it was capable of spanking out a 4.1-second 0-60 mph run, with a 155-mph top speed.

2019 BMW M2 Competition – More Power, Same Acceleration
Munich's updated coupe can't beat its predecessor's numbers, but we love it regardless.
This story has been updated with test results.
Carved into the mountains of southern Spain, east of the historic city of Ronda, resides the fast and technical 3.4-mile Circuito Ascari. The racetrack flows smoothly yet is mentally demanding. Linking the chicanes and off-camber sections of its 26 corners requires a sniper's patience and precision. The straights aren't so straight and necessitate convincing the brain to go full send. Ascari is a driver's track, and a course this pure requires a vehicle equal in execution. It’s here that we first sampled the 2019 BMW M2 Competition, which supersedes the regular M2 and comes armed with more of everything.
New Turbocharged Engine
BMW could have spent wads of cash revising the previous turbocharged N55 inline-six to meet tighter emissions standards. Instead, it snatched a powerplant already in the arsenal, the potent S55 twin-turbo inline-six from the M4. In deference to the M hierarchy, boost is reduced in the M2's version, lowering the output from 425 horsepower to 405. Torque, however, is undiminished at 406 lb-ft.
Dialing back the S55's power doesn't just preserve the M family pecking order; it also addresses a cooling issue. Although the M2 Competition’s fascia is revised and the cooling system is derived from that of the M4 Competition, the smaller car doesn't flow as much air through its front end, and less airflow means less cooling. But even detuned to 405 horsepower, the S55's output represents a substantial increase over the outgoing M2's 365 horses and 369 lb-ft. The M2 Competition rockets down the straights, and the sweet inline-six barks through a new exhaust system, pulling strongly all the way to the redline.
At our test track in Michigan, though, the additional power did not produce much of a gain in straight-line acceleration. An M2 Competition with the optional DCT automatic transmission we tested couldn't improve on its predecessor's zero-to-60-mph time of 4.0 seconds flat and barely beat it in the quarter-mile, returning a 12.4-second pass at 116 mph, improvements of 0.1 second and 3 mph.

The One-Off BMW M850i Night Sky Has Real Meteorites inside It
The M850i Night Sky celebrates the Quadrantids meteor shower and has cosmic design touches throughout.
Beginning tonight, January 3, the Quadrantids meteor shower will hit its peak, with shooting stars visible in the night sky. Why are you reading this at Car and Driver? Because, to celebrate the shower, BMW has revealed a one-off 8-series coupe that has actual meteorite fragments on the inside.
The Quadrantids shower occurs when the Earth passes by the 2003 EH asteroid from which the meteors likely originated, and it has one of the shortest and most intense peaks of the yearly visible meteor showers. Rarely, some of those meteors can make their way through the planet's atmosphere and fall to the ground as meteorites. In this case, they made their way all the way into this M850i coupe.

As far as where we will see this one in stores, I am not entirely sure, but I would assume the same places as last year. Or you can make it super easy and grab a set now. Last year’s set was nice, but this one is a major step up. Do you agree?
