Sunlight offers surprise benefit: It energizes infection fighting T cells
Well, we all know that sunlight makes us feel just so good! And light and colour can affect our sense of well being so profoundly.

This piece of research demonstrates that blue light stimulates lymphocyte T cell motility - and the mechanism behind this is increasing their synthesis of hydrogen peroxide. White blood cells release hydrogen peroxide when they sense an infection and this signals to T cells and other immune cells to mount an immune response.

This is quite separate from the mechanism by which light stimulates vitamin D production.

I am quite sure that there are other mechanisms waiting to be discovered. But in the meantime plentiful but sensible sunlight exposure is clearly and intuitively good for us!
