Kyle Kuzma wins Rising Stars MVP, cites winning team bonus as motivation
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Kyle Kuzma was determined to make sure Team USA snapped its two-game losing streak in the Rising Stars Challenge.
Why? To have some extra spending money.
"Facts," Kuzma said with a smile, when asked if what he said on the court postgame -- that the $25,000 bonus going to each member of the winning team was part of his motivation -- was true. "I think it was the second timeout, and I broke the huddle by saying, 'Bonus-1-2-3.' So there you go."
Kuzma certainly did his part, scoring 14 of his game-high 35 points in the first quarter to stake Team USA to a 40-30 lead it never relinquished in a 161-144 victory Friday night in the game featuring first- and second-year players. While Team World managed to nearly get all the way back in front on multiple occasions -- pulling within two points in the second quarter and within one in the third -- it never managed to pull ahead.

Above The Law’s 2018 Lawyer Of The Year Contest: The Winner! | Above the Law
...Famous famous — or some would even say infamous. Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who would go on to start a chain of events that would eventually send another lawyer to jail (Michael Cohen, who finished this competition in second-to-last place) and add fuel to the fire in the FBI investigation of a sitting president, stole this competition with 44 percent of the entire vote. Like no other attorney, he was able to dominate the news throughout the course of the year and developed such a fan club that he even thought of (and then thought better of) running for president.
Congratulations to all our Lawyer of the Year finalists, and very special congratulations to our 2018 Lawyer of the Year, Michael Avenatti. Thanks to his incredibly zealous client representation and his habit of inserting himself into every pop culture legal event, America will never be the same. Well done!

The Prize objectives aim at promoting and understanding the significance of quality and reflecting the complexity of Architecture's own significance in terms of technological, constructional, social, economic, cultural and aesthetic achievements.

Architecture's significance —linked with the construction market— has a social Impact and transmits a cultural message. Quality therefore refers to universal values of generic buildings, independent from their programmes: the essence of things rather than their formal values.

Goff wins Courtyard Unstoppable Performance of the Year Award
TLANTA — In advance of Super Bowl LIII, quarterback Jared Goff has received the Courtyard Unstoppable Performance of the Year award.
Per the NFL release, the honor is given to the player who demonstrates the best performance in a game during the regular season. NFL media analysts chose Goff’s performance against the Vikings in Week 4 as the best of the season.
Goff finished that 38-31 victory on Thursday Night Football with 465 yards passing with five touchdowns — both career highs. He also had a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
Goff was a Pro Bowler for the second straight season after racking up 4,688 yards passing with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions — good for a 101.1 passer rating.

Rams win 2018 Offensive Line of the Year award
The Los Angeles Rams had unbelievable continuity on the offensive line this season, starting the same five players in every single game, including the playoffs. It was a dominant unit led by Andrew Whitworth and first-year starter Austin Blythe, who took over for Jamon Brown to start the year and never relinquished the starting job.
As a result of the line’s play this season, the Rams have won Offensive Line of the Year, as selected by NFL Network’s Shaun O’Hara.

LA Rams Aaron Donald wins 2018 Defensive Player of the Year award - Turf Show Times
Rectum? He damn near killed ‘em!
It seems like ages ago at this point, but there was a time in the not-so-distant past where Los Angeles Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald wasn’t setting foot on the field until the organization came correct with the money.
The Rams ultimately paid the man, and the most dominant force on the defensive side of the football delivered...yet again.
For the second consecutive year, the NFL is naming Donald the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
This probably comes as no surprise, as he’s made his name that of the household variety on seemingly every Sunday (and Monday...and Thursday). AD99 set himself apart in the what figures to be the most important qualifier for the award, as he was the only defensive player to eclipse the 20-sack mark (with 20.5) on the year. Texans’ J.J. Watt finished second with 16.0.
Even when he wasn’t destroying the QB, Donald made it his business to be living in the opposition’s backfield — leading the league in tackles for loss, with 28. Vikings’ Danielle Hunter dropped in at No. 2 in that category with 21.
Cheers to ya, Aaron Donald! May you replicate your Week 7 performance in San Francisco (4.0 sacks, 9 tackles, 6 TFL, and 5 QB hits) on Super Bowl Sunday.

Aaron Donald wins 2nd straight NFL Defensive Player of the Year award
Aaron Donald has done it again. Despite missing all of training camp and the preseason, Donald was once again the most dominant defensive player in the league.
At the NFL Honors show on Saturday night, Donald was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, becoming just the third player ever to win the award in back-to-back years. The other two are Lawrence Taylor (1981-82) and J.J. Watt (2014-15).

Rams' Aaron Donald wins second straight Defensive Player of Year - Los Angeles Rams Blog- ESPN
ATLANTA -- It comes as no surprise that Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has been named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year for a second consecutive season Saturday night. A fifth-year pro, Donald also was voted to the Pro Bowl for a fifth consecutive season.
Despite dealing with an inordinate number of double-teams, the 6-foot-1, 280-pound Donald recorded 20.5 sacks to set an NFL single-season record for a defensive tackle dating to when sacks became an official individual stat in 1982. His sack total also set a Rams franchise record, as the organization won back-to-back division titles for the first time since 1979 and advanced to the Super Bowl for the first time in 17 seasons.

Andrew Whitworth wins 2019 Alan Page Community Award
Andrew Whitworth has made a lasting mark on the Los Angeles Rams since joining the team in 2017, both on and off the field. He was recognized for his community work on Thursday by being named the recipient of the Alan Page Community Award for 2019.
Via the NFLPA:
Previously known as the Byron Whizzer White Award before being re-established this past fall, the Alan Page Community Award is the highest honor that the NFLPA can bestow upon a player. The award annually recognizes one player who goes above and beyond to perform community service in their team cities and hometowns. Each of the finalists will receive an additional $10,000 for his foundation or charity of choice, with the winner being determined through a vote by their NFL peers.
Whitworth was instrumental in helping the community through a tragic period in November. In addition to the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks, the area dealt with wildfires that burned widespread throughout Southern California.
Whitworth donated his game check to those impacted by the tragic shooting and shared a moment with fans after the Rams’ win over the Chiefs.

Rams tackle Andrew Whitworth wins 2019 Alan Page Community Award
Los Angeles Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth was named the 2019 NFLPA Alan Page Community Award winner on Thursday.
Whitworth will receive $100,000 for his Big Whit 77 Foundation with the award, which was voted on by NFL players. The other finalists were the Bengals' Geno Atkins, the Jets' Kelvin Beachum, the Broncos' Von Miller and Panthers' Cam Newton. Each of the finalists received $10,000 for their charities.
Whitworth was recognized for donating his game check (approximately $60,000) to the Ventura County Community Foundation's Conejo Valley Victims Fund after the mass shooting at Borderline Bar and Grill that killed 12 people in Thousand Oaks, California. He also auctioned his game jersey to benefit the American Red Cross after the California wildfires in November. Whitworth himself was forced to evacuate his home because of the fires.
Whitworth's Rams are preparing to play in Sunday's Super Bowl. He was not at the NFLPA's news conference; his wife, Melissa, accepted the award.
Former Falcons tackle Mike Kenn introduced Melissa Whitworth and noted that her husband went "above and beyond in serving his city.''
