Albums That Should Exist: Maria McKee - Acoustic Versions (1989-1995)
I recently stumbled across a few more acoustic versions of Maria McKee's songs from the early 1990s than I'd previously realized. That allowed me to put this album together. I don't know why exactly, but during this time period she often put out acoustic versions of her songs, sometimes as B-sides.
Not all the songs here are fully acoustic, meaning just her on an acoustic guitar or a piano. Some are even done as a small band, complete with drums. The version of "My Lonely Sad Eyes" is one such example. But still, these versions have much more of an acoustic feeling than the better known album versions of the same songs.
In order to put this album together, I removed three acoustic versions from a McKee stray tracks album I had already made, "Sweetest Child." To make sure you don't have any overlap with that one, I suggest you redownload it:
https://albumsthatshouldexist.blogspot.com/2018/06/maria-mckee-sweetest-child-various.html
I didn't include any versions of rare songs that happen to be done acoustically. I'm putting those on other McKee albums. This only consists of songs from her studio albums, or from Lone Justice albums, done in an acoustic style. McKee is such a powerful singer that it often is even more impressive hearing her nail these songs without lots of distracting instrumentation.

Albums That Should Exist: Led Zeppelin - Bron-Yr-Aur - Various Songs (1970)
I've posted two albums of Led Zeppelin stray tracks that roughly correspond with the studio albums "Led Zeppelin I" and "Led Zeppelin II." This one compliments "Led Zeppelin III." All the songs from it were recorded in 1970, the same year that album came out.
The band's third album was surprisingly acoustic in sound compared to the first two. This is connected to the fact that the band spent an extended time practicing and songwriting in a cottage in rural Wales known as Bron-Yr-Aur. This was a very creative time for the band, writing many songs not only for "Led Zeppelin III," but also a bunch of songs that would appear on later albums.
As a result, this album has some musical consistency, even though it comes from a variety of sources, both official and unreleased, and live and studio. There are a few rockers, but most of the songs are acoustic in nature.
Some songs here are very well known, especially "Hey, Hey What Can I Do," a B-side that still get frequently played on classic rock radio stations. There are a few other songs that were released on various additions of the "Coda" outtakes album. But others are obscure, some even by serious fans of Led Zeppelin bootlegs.

Watch Spinal Tap Reunite, Perform with Elvis Costello | Music News | Consequence of Sound
Acoustic set at the Tribeca Film Festival was still turned up to 11
This year, fans of the whole genre of rock and roll are celebrating the 35th anniversary of the landmark mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. At a screening over the weekend in New York as part of the Tribeca Film Festival, Spinal Tap themselves cranked it up to 11 once again as they reunited for a live performance, their first such one in over a decade.
Following the film and a Q&A, David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) got back together on the Beacon Theatre stage for an acoustic set. The trio joked through a performance of memorable tunes from Rob Reiner’s heavy metal movie, including “Hell Hole”, “Big Bottom”, “Rainy Day Sun”, and “Clam Caravan”. Before closing with “Sex Farm”, they welcomed out a surprise guest in Elvis Costello, who joined them for “Gimme Some Money”.
Closing the set, Hubbins/McKean teased the crowd with more shows to come: “We will see you in another 35 years!”
