Google’s ads just look like search results now - The Verge
Last week, Google began rolling out a new look for its search results on desktop, which blurs the line between organic search results and the ads that sit above them. In what appears to be something of a purposeful dark pattern, the only thing differentiating ads and search results is a small black-and-white “Ad” icon next to the former. It’s been formatted to resemble the new favicons that now appear next to the search results you care about. Early data collected by Digiday suggests that the changes may already be causing people to click on more ads.

The big questions from FTI's report on the Jeff Bezos hack
“If FTI doesn’t have the capability to do this analysis themselves, then they should ask for WhatsApp’s help in decrypting the file and then should allow FB and Apple to investigate,” Stamos said. “[T]he idea that this report is the furthest you can go with access to the phone is wrong. The circumstantial evidence is reasonably compelling, but since this is a major national security issue now more eyes need to be on the evidence.”

Opinion | Banning Facial Recognition Isn’t Enough - The New York Times
it doesn’t matter which technology is used to identify people. That there currently is no comprehensive database of heart beats or gaits doesn’t make the technologies that gather them any less effective. And most of the time, it doesn’t matter if identification isn’t tied to a real name. What’s important is that we can be consistently identified over time.
