Tiny68K 68000 SBC at RetroBrew
Tiny68K high-performance low-cost Motorola 68000 single board computer: entire 16MB mem is RAM (except top 32KB I/O space), boot software in 32KB serial flash copied to low 32KB DRAM on power up or reset. RAM-resident boot software can be modified just like any data in RAM, but is overwritten on next power cycle or reset. Features an MC68681 DUART, port A console at TTL-level, 38400 baud, 8N1, CTS/RTS. Uses cheap 5v Altera EPM7128 CPLD for glue logic: * State machine loads 32K serial flash into RAM, * Controller for a 16- MB SIMM72 DRAM, * Hidden CAS-before-RAS refresh in hardware, * Memory decoder, * Interrupt controller, * Bus Error watchdog timer. Board also has: * 8-16 MHz 0scillator (16 MHz untested) * 32KB 24C256 serial flash boot device * Second 32KB serial flash, programmable in-situ, boot via jumper, * 44-pin edge connector to low-cost IDE-CF card, * SIMM72 for 16-MB SIMM DRAM, * SIMM72 expansion port (untested), * 7-segment LED visual indicator of board operations, * CP/M-68K ver 1.3 * Cheap 100mm x 100mm 2-layer PCB * 5V operation. Characteristics: * 16-bit data bus, * 16MB SIMM72 DRAM at zero wait state (8MHz clock), * Fast serial flash loads monitor in 0.6s after reset or power on, * 16-bit wide bus-connected IDE interface with zero wait state at 8MHz, * Hidden CAS-before-RAS refresh cycle has no software overhead. Memory map: 0x0 to 0xFF7FFF RAM, 0xFFD000-0xFFDFFF Serial Flash, 0xFFE000-0xFFEFFF IDE-CF, 0xFFF000-0xFFFFFF 68681 DUART.
