Doc´s Vinyl Box Vol. 3: CREAM, London, Klooks Kleek Club, November 15, 1966
off Super rare Dutch Vinyl Boot "A Group called CREAM" on Viktorie Label!
This show is, as far as we know, the earliest CREAM concert recording!
It includes more spontaneous playing of short versions of the common
CREAM songs than the later shows, plus a rare rendition of "Lawdy Mama"!
The recording sounds great for it´s time,  and the show is probably one of the
hottest CREAM shows ever! The Viktorie Boot recording is in a real nice 'Electronic Stereo'
mix also different from the repressing, which used only one channel from the original issue

Grace Slick Vocals Isolated - White Rabbit - YouTube
Susan Doran
Published on Mar 13, 2017
Even cooler and more powerful than you'd imagine!
............................
FAQ & LYRICS (below)
Q: Who did the original vocals isolation and remastering?
A: I don't know. It has been floating around the web for some time--it's superb.
Q: What did you do?
A: Edited out 30 seconds of silence in the beginning, added amplification, and very very minor noise reduction. Also made the slideshow :)
Q: Did you add reverb or echo effects?
A: No. Compare here to the original recording and production -- and its prominent reverb:
https://youtu.be/XR8LFNUr3vw?t=28s
Q: Did you---or the studio or producers--enhance *vibrato*?
A: None of the above. Here's a good live TV performance, with Grace Slick's vibrato (and mostly sans reverb)
https://youtu.be/WANNqr-vcx0?t=28s
Q: Where was this recorded?
A: According to Jefferson Airplane bassist, Jack Casady, “We recorded it out at Sunset and Ivar, in a huge room at RCA where they used to record A Hundred And One Strings. The room was massive, so we basically set up the instrumentation in the middle of this room and played it live onto four-track. It was very simple to record. I just led the song out as a bass part like Bolero, ripping off Ravel. It was all slow and slinky, it gave us the atmosphere we wanted.” (check out this fine article for more background on this song, Grace Slick, and the Jefferson Airplane:

Q: People are getting the lyrics wrong - can you post them?
A: Sure.

Before Led Zeppelin: 13 Best Songs You Didn't Know Jimmy Page Played On | Billboard
The young guitarist contributed licks to some of the biggest hits of the British Invasion.
Before Jimmy Page was a bona fide guitar god with rock giants Led Zeppelin, he was but a young upstart trying to make a living as a studio musician in London. And over the course of the 1960s, he’d record rippin’ guitar solos and chilling textures for the crème de la crème of the British Invasion groups, and later for the stars of the psychedelic London sound. Here are the 13 essential tracks featuring guitar work from Page, in descending order.

The UK release of Led Zeppelin I – it was 50 years ago:
50 years ago this week saw the UK release of the Led Zeppelin debut album –  to mark the anniversary  – here’s some DL thoughts logged at the time of the reissue in 2014:
THEN:
Led Zeppelin in the white heat of technology in October 1968 – in the listening booths of Braggins department store Bedford and on a reel to reel tape recorder…
Though I had been a Zep fan since the end of 1969, I did not hear Led Zeppelin 1 until early in 1971. My Zep running order took in Led Zeppelin III on the day of release and then Led Zep II soon after that. Before then, pocket money did not stretch to shelling out the required 39 shillings and 11 as was the asking price back then.
However, I did know the opening track quite well as I had frequently requested it to be played on the listening booth in Braggins, our local department store that sold records.
Their ruling however for any youngsters requesting a listen to an album, was that they would only play the opening track on side one – thus I knew all about Good Times Bad Times but nothing else…I therefore would gaze at live gig reviews of the time and dream in wonderment of what Communication Breakdown and Dazed And Confused actually sounded like!
That situation is quite hard to believe when you consider today’s modern world of all accessibility le downloads/YouTube/ etc. Back in those days, access to the world of Led Zep was like entering a secret society.
All was eventually revealed by a recording I acquired on my reel to reel tape recorder in early 1971- less a remaster more a case of a hissmaster….but hey I had the entire 45 minute contents and was now in command of their complete catalogue.

Simply stunning box set on the Great Dane label, Italy, 1993. Catalog #9326/9. Contains every extant Beatles performance on BBC radio, from March 1962 through their final set in June 1965. Only a relatively small portion of these performances, all recorded exclusively for BBC broadcast (and thus different from the familiar LP studio versions), are otherwise available. Sound quality varies, particularly on the earlier discs, with much of the material derived from personal collections when it could not be located in the BBC archives. 257 tracks in total, including many takes of the hits (for example, "She Loves You" and "From Me To You" are repeated fairly often, but it's a different version each time) and many obscurities (a studio rehearsal of just the backing track of "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You;" George crooning Joe Brown's pop hit "A Picture of You;" the lads backing Rolf Harris on a demented reqrite of his hit ditty, "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport"). Perhaps the biggest treat for fans are several "Pop Goes the Beatles" shows in their entirety, including all this was the Beatles' own short-lived BBC radio programmethe goofy chat between songs; . The box contains nine discs with a 28-page, 12 X 12 full color booklet on high-quality paper. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. -Original

Led Zeppelin Documentary Heading to Cannes Market | Hollywood Reporter
Billed as an "in their own words" telling, the documentary features new interviews with Zeppelin founders Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, as well as rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham.
Turn it up to 11. A new documentary on legendary rock band Led Zeppelin is heading to the Cannes market.
Bernard MacMahon, the director of the Emmy-nominated music documentary series American Epic, is helming the as-yet-untitled doc, which will feature new interviews with band members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, as well as rare archival interviews with the late John Bonham.
Currently in postproduction, the documentary is billed as the "definitive telling of the birth of the world’s biggest-selling rock band" and will be told solely from the band's perspective, with never-before-seen archive film footage and photographs and state-of-the-art audio transfers of the band’s music.
Both Page and Plant said watching American Epic, which traces the roots of American recorded music of the Roaring Twenties, convinced them to sign on to MacMahon's film.
"When I saw everything Bernard had done both visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story,” Jimmy Page said in a statement.
“The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words,” added John Paul Jones. “I think that this film will really bring this story to life.”
The team behind American Epic is on board for the Led Zeppelin doc, including writer and producer Allison McGourty, editor Dan Gitlin and sound supervisor Nicholas Bergh. McGourty, MacMahon, Duke Erikson and Ged Doherty are producing the film, with Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub as executive producers.
CAA is handling U.S. rights to the documentary, and Altitude is selling the film internationally.

Led Zeppelin Documentary to Feature Surviving Band Members – Rolling Stone
Surviving members filmed new interviews for Bernard MacMahon film, currently in post-production and due out to celebrate band’s 50th anniversary
Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have participated in a new documentary celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary. The three surviving members filmed new interviews for director Bernard MacMahon’s (American Epic) as-yet-untitled project, which is currently in post-production and will be shopped at the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie — the first ever to feature the iconic hard rock group’s participation — also includes rare archival interviews with late drummer John Bonham, previously unseen film and photographs, interviews with other artists and high-quality audio transfers of the band’s music.
Plant and Page praised MacMahon’s work on American Epic, the Emmy-nominated 2017 documentary that chronicled the early American roots music recordings of the 1920s.
“When I saw everything Bernard had done both visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story,” Page said (via Variety). Plant added, “Seeing Will Shade, and so many other important early American musicians, brought to life on the big screen in American Epic inspired me to contribute to a very interesting and exciting story.”
Jones noted, “The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring this story to life.”
Led Zeppelin released their seminal, self-titled debut LP in January 1969. The band recently marked the anniversary by teaming with Vans for a limited-edition line of footwear and apparel.

Whole lotta rock: first official Led Zeppelin documentary announced | Music | The Guardian
Bernard MacMahon, director of roots music series American Epic, will helm film exploring band’s explosive early years
The first ever official documentary film about Led Zeppelin has been announced, to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary.
Announcing the project, bassist John Paul Jones said: “The time was right for us to tell our own story for the first time in our own words, and I think that this film will really bring that story to life.”
Currently in post-production, the as yet untitled film is directed by British film-maker Bernard MacMahon. He made his debut in 2017 with American Epic, a four-part documentary exploring roots music across the US, including folk, blues and Native American songwriting.
“When I saw everything Bernard had done visually and sonically on the remarkable achievement that is American Epic, I knew he would be qualified to tell our story,” Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page said in a statement, with frontman Robert Plant adding: “Seeing Will Shade, and so many other important early American musicians, brought to life on the big screen in American Epic inspired me to contribute to a very interesting and exciting story.”
Rather than attempt to tell the entire history of the group, MacMahon will focus on their development and rise to fame, as the three members each left session work and existing bands to come together in 1968, along with late drummer John Bonham. The film will chart their career until 1970, as the second album, released the previous year featuring the hit track Whole Lotta Love, cements them as the dominant rock band of the era.
That means some of the most famous parts of their story – their biggest hit, Stairway to Heaven; the debauched rock’n’roll excess of their imperial phase; the death of Bonham in 1980, their immediate dissolution and one-off return in 2007 – will not be covered.
The film is based around new interviews with the three surviving band members, “no outside voices or conjecture”, and hitherto unseen archive footage and photographs. A release date has not yet been announced.
