Jeff Bezos Announces Customers Can Delete All Of Alexa’s Stored Audio By Rappelling Into Amazon HQ, Navigating Laser Field, Uploading Nanovirus To Servers
“We take privacy concerns seriously, and I want our valued customers to know they can erase all the information their Amazon Echo has gathered just by being dropped from a helicopter over one of our towers, using a diamond-tipped glass cutter to carve out a hole in a 32nd-story window, and then employing advanced cyberwarfare techniques to compromise our data centers,” said Bezos,

The incredible importance of Siri Suggestions
PTVery interesting, but I especially love the part where Sarah talks about Siri Shortcuts. That’s arguably very cool — and it got a big cheer from the technically minded developer crowd — but it’s most certainly a power user feature. Launching an app to build custom workflows is not something everyday iPhone users will do right off the bat — or in some cases, ever. Over time, Siri will learn users’ routines — like, on many weekday mornings, around 8 to 8:30 AM, the user places a particular coffee order through a coffee shop app’s order ahead system. In your favorite apps, you’ll start seeing an “Add to Siri” link or button in various places — like when you perform a particular action — such as looking for your keys in Tile’s app, viewing travel plans in Kayak, ordering groceries with Instacart and so on.

https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2018/06/still-optimistic-free-trade.html
A lot of the recent cross-border migration is planting a hugely positive, pro-trade legacy that will yield dividends for decades to come. The Chinese, Indians, Nigerians and many other groups around the world will continue to build economic connections, even when the countries involved aren’t always so geographically close. I expect the positive trade gains from these connections and personal networks will outweigh the downside from some higher tariffs in the meantime. Sitting here in Norway for a conference, I find I am unable to access many American websites, such as the Chicago Tribune, which are not ( yet? ) There is thus a danger that the internet will become carved into three or more separate systems, to the detriment of trade, data flows and eventually personal connections.

NORTHERN ECONOMIST 2.0: Ontario: The Road Ahead
Ontario has elected a
new majority government and Doug Ford is Premier Designate of Ontario. In the end, Ontario voters have voted out the Liberals and opted for a
major change in government.Congratulations to Mr.
Ford and his team on their election victory and a thank you to all candidates
in this election who chose to run and campaign.Political life is a challenge and one cannot say enough about how important
it is to have people willing to run for office and serve the public interest. In the end, any democracy is only as
effective as the people who are willing to participate whether as candidates or
voters. The NDP hold 40 seats with 33.7
percent of the popular vote and the Liberals are down to 7 seats with 19.3
percent of the popular vote. The Liberal
collapse has reduced them to virtual islands of support - three seats in the GTA, three in Ottawa and 1 in
northern Ontario.The Green Party has
also managed a positive showing electing 1 – their leader – in Guelph with 4.6
percent of the vote.It is a majority
government and for those concerned about uncertainty, a minority government
would have created more uncertainty than a majority government.Any concerns about uncertainty with respect
to policy direction are now entirely in the hands of the new elected
government. With respect to
northern Ontario, the region has diverse representation that includes members
of the governing party as well as opposition voices to air issues and concerns. The elected PC members are also spread a

Opinion | Chris Hayes: What ‘Law and Order’ Means to Trump - The New York Times
And this is what “law and order” means: the preservation of a certain social order, not the rule of law. It shouldn’t have taken this long to see what has always been staring us in the face. After all, the last president to focus so intensely on law and order, Richard Nixon, the man who helped usher in mass incarceration, was also the most infamous criminal to occupy the Oval Office. The history of the United States is the story of a struggle between the desire to establish certain universal rights and the countervailing desire to preserve a particular social order.

We are now witnessing a president who wholly embraces the latter. America can have that kind of social order, or it can have justice for all. But it can’t have both.

Clincher vs. Tubular Bike Tires
Tubular tires look the same as clinchers on the outside, but work in a very different way. Tubulars are completely round, so there is no open part of the tire that needs to clinch. There is also no tube needed – -the tube is basically sewn into the tire and is part of it. As a result, the tubular is just one piece, whereas the clincher is two pieces (tube and tire). Tubular tires are often glued to the rim, because without some glue they tend to move around a bit.
