Republican Extremism Turning Democrats Left on Health Care
When President Obama urged Congress to pass the Affordable Care Act, a plan modeled after Mitt Romney’s health-care plan, conservatives decried it as a government takeover of health care. Obama explained that his plan did no such thing.

npm ci | npm Documentation
This command is similar to npm-install, except it's meant to be used in automated environments such as test platforms, continuous integration, and deployment. It can be significantly faster than a regular npm install by skipping certain user-oriented features. It is also more strict than a regular install, which can help catch errors or inconsistencies caused by the incrementally-installed local environments of most npm users.

Our misperceptions run deep. But the man who's spent years studying them hasn't given up on us. | Poynter
Bobby Duffy knows how wrong we all are. In the six years that he’s overseen IPSOS Mori’s “Peril of Perception” studies, Duffy has documented the enormous gap between facts and public perceptions on topics like immigration, public health and criminality. via Pocket

O hai, we're celebrating David Bowie this weekend, aren't we? - In Search of New Dreams
Bowie was freakishly well read. Everyone who ever met him frequently mentioned that. Bowie could analyze a painting, insert the most random references into his music videos, carry a conversation about philosophy, you name it. I mean, you never expect intelligent conversations from Ozzy Osbourne or Mick Jagger. Bowie once said that he was scared his friends would steal his library when he moved to America in the 70s, so he shipped 400 books over from England and lugged them around with him. And this was even during his early days when he was high all the time. Bowie was intelligent. People are still picking apart the obscure occult references he left behind in Blackstar.
