Aranea/Ravus, fuckbuddies developing feelings
Aranea and Ravus have been casually fucking for a while, mostly because they're in a high-pressure work environment filled with people they despise and the options aren't great. They've been getting more comfortable with each other, enough to try some trust-heavy stuff, and being vulnerable with each other isn't terrible, and -

oh no, are these feelings? The other must never know!

(But they do find out eventually. And then they smooch.)

++Femdom and/or BDSM stuff
+++Sarcasm friends who claim to not be friends, just colleagues. Who hang out together, and fuck. They were never really fooling anyone.
++++Their horrible coworkers

BRLTTY - Official Home
"a background process (daemon) which provides access to the Linux/Unix console (when in text mode) for a blind person using a refreshable braille display. It drives the braille display, and provides complete screen review functionality. Some speech capability has also been incorporated."
Also note BrlAPI , which can provide an API for programs to output the text that can then be fed into BRLTTY OR speech synthesizers

Cuba Extends Internet To Mobile Phones, Promising New Access - @publicbill
Cuba went 3G today - for those who can pay: "Cuba's state telephone company will allow mobile phone customers to use the Internet via a new 3G network, starting on Thursday. But as with previous tech advances in the island nation, only those who can afford it will be able to take advantage of the access — which remains under the control of the autocratic government...To take advantage of the new service, Cubans will need to pay the equivalent of $7 for 600 megabytes of data, $10 for 1 gigabyte and $30 for 4 gigabytes, according to the state-run Granma news agency. The cost of access poses a steep barrier in a country where nearly 60 percent of the population lives on $100 or less per month, as a 2016 Cuban consumer survey found. Despite that obstacle, 68 percent of Cubans said they had a Facebook account, and 57 percent said they had an email address, the survey said." - Bill Chappell, NPR

Cor/Loqi, Loqi is like an attention starved angry puppy
Loqi's bio says: "While Loqi considers the decorated Lucian marshal Cor Leonis his self-professed rival, the marshal spares nary a thought for his imperial counterpart."

For some reason I find that more hilarious and adorable than I probably should and had this mental image of Loqi popping up in whatever places to challenge Cor in this grandiose manner, Cor easily beating him and then just brushing him off with: "Go home kid." while Loqi rages at his indifference. ("Notice me! I swear I'm dangerous!") And he keeps coming back again and again.

I'd like to see something built around that but, in the end, Cor actually does finally end up giving him his attention. Only... it might not be the type Loqi was expecting :D.

Bonuses:
+++++ Cor actually making the "attention starved angry puppy" comparison.
++ To support above: smol Loqi. (Someone actually did some math and came to the conclusion that Loqi is about 165.7cm tall. Cor is 191cm. I love it!)

NOTE:
Though I have presented this in a rather humorous way, it doesn't have to be crack and you can add some angst too if you prefer.

Australia passes bill to force tech firms to hand over encrypted data • Reuters

Australia’s parliament on Thursday passed a bill to force tech firms such as Alphabet Inc’s Google, Facebook and Apple to give police access to encrypted data, the most far-reaching such requirements imposed by a western country.

The bill, staunchly opposed by the tech giants which fear Australia could be an example as other nations explore similar rules, is set to become law before the end of the year.

“Let’s just make Australians safe over Christmas,” opposition Labor party leader Bill Shorten told reporters outside parliament in the capital of Canberra.

The bill, passed by the lower house of parliament earlier on Thursday, was to be debated in the upper Senate, where Labor said it intended to suggest new amendments, before going back to the lower house.

In an eleventh-hour twist, Labor said that despite its reservations, it would pass the bill in the Senate, on the proviso that the coalition agreed to its amendments next year.

“We will pass the legislation, inadequate as it is, so we can give our security agencies some of the tools they say they need,” Shorten said…

…Australia’s government has said the laws are needed to counter militant attacks and organized crime and that security agencies would need to seek warrants to access personal data.

Technology companies have opposed efforts to create what they see as a back door to users’ data, a stand-off that was propelled into the public arena by Apple’s refusal to unlock an iPhone used by an attacker in a 2015 shooting in California.

Based on this, Australia's politicians' education is still somewhere in 1998. Can't see it working, either: criminals will just use apps from companies that don't have any base in Australia.
