Ross Johnson - (1/5) How I created a 75K MRR business in the past...
# 1: Niching down and staying focused on our core service.

I had to start with this because it's the foundation of everything we have done.

Niching down is absolutely necessary in business. Period. And, it must be super clear.

For us, it's been organic Instagram growth. We don't run ads, we don't do Facebook, we don't do anything other than that one service.

This allowed us to become known for that which made it easy for people to recommend us to others.

In the beginning, we did a lot of custom work, different offerings, and things that delivered the same results but that made it impossible to create effective systems in our business.

Once we narrowed down our service to offering just 1 system for Instagram growth, everything changed.

If you are a service provider who wants to create a successful MRR (monthly recurring revenue) based business, you must become hyper focused.

Eliminate all distractions, find your most effective service, refine the process, put a price on it, and exclusively offer this to your clients/customers.

Having a service nailed down with a predictable pricing model allows you calculate customer lifetime value much more easily (this will help you maximize revenue).

Also, when you offer a service like this, you can create minimum commitments like 3 months, 6 months, and so on. This give you the opportunity to sign contracts, then forecast revenue for at least 90 days in the future.

The ability to forecast revenue is HUGE!

If you are a service provider who's income fluctuates from month to month, it can be really scary.

Creating these minimum commitments will really help with that and will give you the foresight you need to make better decisions on how to grow.

The first steps we took were:

1. Niche down
2. Chose and refined our best service
3. Eliminated distractions
4. Created minimum commitments
5. Tracked our revenue each month + expected future revenue
