Five news outlets comply with order to delete embedded YouTube video of investigative report: Meduza
Last week, Russia's federal censor Roskomnadzor ordered several media outlets to remove an investigative report video; they all complied, Meduza reports: "In connection with a lawsuit Deripaska filed against Rybka, Roskomnadzor ordered Mediazona, the independent U.S.-government-funded Radio Svoboda, Znak.com, NEWSru.com, and Snob to delete links to [opposition politician Alexey] Navalny’s report on YouTube. On Wednesday, February 14, Russian officials announced (http://www.interfax.ru/russia/599948) that all five publications have complied with the government’s orders...

"Mediazona, Radio Svoboda, and NEWSru.com all removed Navalny’s YouTube video from their reports published last week, informing readers that they were under Roskomnadzor’s orders to do so. Znak.com simply deleted its original article on Navalny’s investigation, and Snob’s February 8 report now features no hyperlinks to Navalny’s Deripaska video...Navalny has filed a lawsuit against Roskomnadzor, arguing that the agency illegally blacklisted his February 8 investigative report, saying that his research is based on open-source information, not confidential data."

The Blueprint for Developers to Get Started with Machine Learning - The New Stack
Many developers (including myself) have included learning machine learning in their new year resolutions for 2018. Even after blocking an hour everyday in the calendar, I am hardly able to make progress. The key reason for this is the confusion on where to start and how to get started. via Pocket

College football games are too damn long. I have 3 solutions so far. | Bill Connelly for college football commissioner
College football games averaged nearly three and a half hours in 2016, and some went for nearly five hours. One game lasted so long, Mack Brown had to leave the announcer's booth on air. That’s absurd, and people have plenty of ideas on how to rectify that.

Some of those ideas are ridiculous. We’re not going to change quarter length from 15 minutes to 12. It seems unfair to reduce the number of replays in a game; if your officiating crew is having a bad night, saying "just accept it" doesn’t work.

Michael B. Jordan Is a 'Black Panther' Encyclopedia | WIRED
Michael B. Jordan Is a 'Black Panther' Encyclopedia http://ift.tt/2EoWW9O Prospective http://ift.tt/2CnYcZ2 February 14, 2018 at 07:12PM

In Black Panther, the titular hero is played by Chadwick Boseman, but it might be his cinematic adversary who knows more about his character. When we sat down with the cast of the new Marvel movie and started asking questions about the Wakandan king T’Challa, it was Michael B. Jordan, who plays villain Erik Killmonger, who knew the most comic book history about his onscreen foe.

Need proof? Ask Jordan who Black Panther is and he won't just say "the king of Wakanda," he'll say that he “fought Captain America throughout Marvel comic history.” Ask him if the hero has superpowers and he’ll respond, “Yeah, he does. He takes a Heart-Shaped Herb; it gives him super strength, a lot of cat-like qualities. Pretty cool.” Ask him whether T’Challa or Cap is stronger and the answer is: “They’re the same, but Black Panther edged out Captain America in almost every battle that they had throughout Marvel history.” He even has an excellent argument for who would win in a battle between T'Challa and Wolverine. Sure, some of his intel may have been in the script, but there's no denying Jordan is an encyclopedia of Wakandan knowledge.

But that’s just the beginning of the fun facts in this Google Autocomplete interview. Watch the video above to find out whether Boseman has siblings, how many languages Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia) speaks, and which member of the cast is good at karaoke. (Hint: It’s the one who once played a famous soul singer.)
