Sopra Steria projette d'acquérir l'Allemand it-economics - ChannelNews
Sopra Steria projette d’acquérir l’Allemand it-economics

A Sichuan Airlines co-pilot was sucked halfway out of a cockpit window
A Sichuan Airlines co-pilot was sucked halfway out of a cockpit window https://ift.tt/2IhCjSJ Prospective https://ift.tt/2KoKf18 May 15, 2018 at 04:39PM

A Sichuan Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday when the windshield of the aircraft blew out and the co-pilot was reportedly sucked halfway out of the cockpit.

The airline had reached a cruising altitude of 32,000 feet on its route from Chongqing, China, to Lhasa, Tibet, when a loud crack was heard and the windshield flew off, causing both a sudden loss of cabin pressure and the co-pilot, according to Reuters.

Pilot Liu Chuanjian was forced to make an emergency landing in Chengdu, China. He reportedly had to land the Airbus A319 manually since the navigation equipment malfunctioned due to the loss of pressure and the noise in the cockpit was so loud he could not hear air traffic control. The co-pilot, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pulled back in and miraculously only suffered scratches and a sprained wrist. None of the plane’s 119 passengers was injured.

While not quite a common occurrence, this is not the first time a pilot has been sucked out of a cockpit window. Back in 1990, pilot Tim Lancaster was sucked out of the cockpit window of a British Airways flight to Malaga, Spain, after an explosion knocked out the windscreen. A quick-thinking flight attendant grabbed Lancaster’s legs as he was flying out the window and held on. Another flight attendant grabbed the first flight attendant’s belt to ensure that he and the pilot didn’t disappear into the sky, while the co-pilot struggled to take the plane out of a nose dive that was triggered when the captain’s feet latched onto the controls.

Shockingly, everyone survived and the world got some downright jaw-dropping images.

Spike Lee goes on an epic, profanity-laced Trump rant at Cannes
Spike Lee goes on an epic, profanity-laced Trump rant at Cannes https://ift.tt/2rJzm3c Prospective https://ift.tt/2wHRtvh May 15, 2018 at 04:39PM

Yesterday, Spike Lee debuted the trailer for his upcoming film, BLACKkKLANSMAN. It’s the farfetched-sounding but actually true story of a black detective in Colorado Springs working to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. (John David Washington stars, alongside Adam Driver.) From the looks of it, the film uses a comedic tone and a groovy soundtrack to make a very serious point about far-right fringe movements gravitating toward the mainstream. Lee anchors his point to our current moment by ending the trailer with a collection of klansmen chanting “America First.”

From that alone, it would appear safe to assume that he is not a big fan of Donald Trump. Factoring in Lee’s entire filmography, including documentaries on Hurricane Katrina and the church bombing in Birmingham, along with his outspoken nature in general, provides context for the director’s epic rant against Trump from Cannes on Tuesday.

Lee was presenting BLACKkKLANSMAN at the festival, his first time back in Palme d’Or competition since 1991. The film got a rousing response that turned into hushed awe when the end scene gave way to a documentary montage about the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville last summer, which ended with protester Heather Heyer’s murder. When Lee spoke at a press conference about getting the blessing of Heyer’s mother to use the footage in the film,  he erupted into a long monologue mostly about President Trump.

“We have a guy in the White House—I’m not gonna say his fucking name—who defined that moment not just for Americans but the world, and that motherfucker was given the chance to say we are about love, not hate. And that motherfucker did not denounce the motherfucking Klan, the alt-right, and those Nazis motherfuckers. It was a defining moment, and he could have said to the world, not just the United States, that we were better than that,” Lee says at one point.

By the time he is finished, the director appeared thoroughly rattled by his own words, and the events that inspired them.

Spotify hypes freemium upgrades with its largest ad campaign ever
Spotify hypes freemium upgrades with its largest ad campaign ever https://ift.tt/2IirJuQ Prospective https://ift.tt/2wHRkYL May 15, 2018 at 04:39PM
In recent months, Spotify has proved itself a more than savvy marketer, with initiatives like its Black History Is Happening Now content hub, Cardi B’s Music School, and the David Bowie MTA takeover using culture in unexpected ways to illustrate both the power of music and the brand’s own place in that dynamic.

This week the music streaming service is launching its largest-ever global marketing campaign to hype its upgraded freemium service. According to the company, there are 99 million people who’d rather listen to ads than pay $9.99 a month, and now those people will get more personalization through music recommendations and personalized playlists based on their tastes, more control over playlists, and easier playlist creation. (As long as it’s not R. Kelly or XXXTentacion.)

Set as fake summer blockbuster trailers, the two new ads drop favorite tracks into two unexpected places. In one, an action-flick car chase turns into a Miley Cyrus bonding session, while the other turns Camila Cabello’s “Havana” into a trigger song for one super creepy roommate. Spotify’s global executive creative director Alex Bodman says the idea for the campaign came from the product itself, specifically the heart feature, which allows you to like a certain song, and then, based on that, Spotify can serve up and suggest new music to you.

[Photo: courtesy of Spotify]“We saw that heart, and while it is quite functional for the product, it’s also symbolic of the personal relationship each one of us has with music,” says Bodman. “So we started there, and then decided to explore work from all different angles in a way that felt like the right tone for our brand.”

Spotify’s global head of advertising Brian Benedik says that the newly renovated free version not only improves the experience for users, but also the advertisers looking to get their attention.

“When you think of what brands are looking for in terms of their investment, they want scale, but they also look for strong engagement,” says Benedik. “What we’re looking for in this improved free-tier experience is even more engagement with these users that will allow us to work with brands in some more creative ways.”
