Lonzo Ball: Something Different this Way Comes - Forum Blue And Gold
He is not yet 21 and his sophomore season in the NBA is still months away. The fanfare of being a No. 2 overall pick along with inherent expectations have faded to some extent. And while Lonzo Ball is not exactly the forgotten man, the arrival of a mythical storm god promises to send him on a journey into the unknown.
Ball played just 52 games during his rookie campaign, ultimately sidelined by a balky knee that led to arthroscopic surgery. He is the son of a famously domineering father and is now the father of his own child—daughter Zoey Christina was born to Zo and girlfriend Denise Garcia on July 22. That’s plenty to absorb for anyone’s personal story but the Los Angeles Lakers’ triumphant acquisition of LeBron James gobbled up media space on a quantitatively larger scale. If you want to pile more on the plate, consider the signing of veteran point guard Rajon Rondo—an NBA champion, four-time All-Star and three-time assists leader who could challenge Ball for playing time and a starting position.

I definitely feel like it's not a use case Apple spends much time testing 😪 Performance is fine, but I've just given up on expecting my book covers to actually display w/o downloading the books first, and without nested collections & manual sort persistence it's a complete mess https://t.co/PrHb24wniq

The 29W 'fast' charger really is as good as everybody said it was for iPhones & iPads (especially iPads); if they're shipping a 19W charger with every iPhone this year it's gonna make a huge difference to charging speeds (the 29W charger only gives iOS devices 19W anyway)

UNFILLED: Mage!Trevelyan - Burn it down
When you go for the aggressive choice when disbanding the Inquisition, the Inquisitor drops Divine Justinia’s writ to form said organization, to emphasize the point the the Inquisition is at it’s end. While that is a moving action, I feel that it needs a bit more... dramatics to it. I want to see the Inquisitor burn the writ to ash in front of the crowd, on saying the Inquisition is disbanded instead of before it. Now, you may be wondering why I want a Treyelyan to be the Inquisitor here. This is because I want the reaction of the nobility seeing the child (albeit disinherited) of one of if not the most pious family in the Free Marches committing sacrilege in front of the Divine.

+ If Divine Victoria is an inspired Leliana who faints after the burning is done.

I would prefer the default names for this if they are used at all.

NASA Parker Solar Probe livestream: How to watch — Quartz
How to watch NASA launch the Parker Solar Probe https://ift.tt/2nuZ1dx Prospective http://img.youtube.com/vi/wwMDvPCGeE0/0.jpg August 11, 2018 at 06:00PM

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe launch is now scheduled for 3:31am US eastern time tomorrow (Aug.12).

The one-hour window for liftoff of the Delta IV Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida will end at 4:31am. (The initial launch attempt was scrubbed on Aug. 11 because of a last-minute helium-pressure problem.)

Built by United Launch Alliance, the rocket will send the Parker—a 1,500-lb. computer—on a seven-year trip that will see it reach speeds of 430,000 miles per hour. That’s faster than any human-made object has ever traveled.

You can watch NASA’s live stream of the launch here, starting at 3am ET:

The path to the sun is  “the most, most challenging in all space exploration,” as Dr. Yanping Guo, the Johns Hopkins researcher who plotted the trajectory, told Quartz’s Tim Fernholz, who writes of the journey that will take the probe past Venus a record seven times:

…the Earth is orbiting the sun, and quickly—19 miles (30 kilometers) per second. Imagine being on a merry-go-round, circling quickly around a central axis. It’s a lot easier to stay in place, or be flung outward, than to climb towards the center. Those same laws of physics, described by Johannes Kepler and Isaac Newton in the 17th century, govern motion in space.

Let’s stay on our merry-go-round. The sun’s gravity is that central axis, pulling you in, which interacts with your speed around the edge, locking you into an orbit. To get to the interior of the merry-go-round—or the solar system—you must diminish your velocity so the pull from the central axis wins out.

In space, the probe will rely on solar power. The path designed by Guo has it passing closely by the sun 24 times.
