This is what happens when you encode data as cell formatting in Excel – Luis D. Verde Arregoitia
Having the correct answer randomized and identified only through cell formatting had me stumped for days, but some web searches led me to this tweet and onto the tidyxl package. The package has excellent documentation, and I referred to the free online cookbook Spreadsheet Munging Strategies by tidyxl maintainer Duncan Garmonsway . With this code, we won’t have to copy and paste manually the hundreds of questions across six different topics in the actual production file for the board game. What is the most common training command taught to dogs?Stay, Fetch, Sit , AttackI hope you found this post useful. Once again, I want to thank the teams and developers that brought us readxl and tidyxl , and also Maëlle Salmon , Ken Butler , and Achim Zeileis for their inputs via Twitter.

Code to joy | 1843
Turn on your TV or radio, use a credit card, check in a bag at the airport, change the temperature in your fridge, get an X-ray at the dentist, text a family member, listen to music on anything other than vinyl or read this article online and each of your desires will be fulfilled by code. Founded in 2014 by Quincy Larson, an idealistic schoolteacher turned programmer, freeCodeCamp began with the explicit goal of rationalising the learning process in order to deepen the otherwise shockingly shallow coding gene pool, which is around 95% white or Asian male. Aware that mature heads have been nudging me towards Python from the start, I return to one of these early advisers, who puts me in touch with a British programmer called Nicholas Tollervey, a graduate of the Royal College of Music and former professional tuba player. But, as if I didn’t know by now, nothing should be taken for granted in the world of the naive coder and any satisfaction I feel at having stormed the input stage is rapidly dispelled when I discover that, after a promising first date, the Twitter API is no longer responding to my app. Hours later, at two in the morning, nerves stretched as if the entire staff of Facebook has thrown them out the window and shimmied down them to escape, I send an SOS to Tollervey, grateful, for the first time in my life, for the eight-hour time-zone lag between San Francisco, where I live, and the UK.

bigrquery 1.0.0 - Tidyverse
This is the most convenient layer if you want to execute SQL queries in
BigQuery or upload smaller amounts (i.e. <100 MB) of data. One of the neatest things about BigQuery is that it supports nested and repeated fields, which are also called structs (or records) and arrays. Note that results are now returned as tibbles, not data frames, because the base print method does not handle list columns well. The primary motivation was to make bigrquery development more enjoyable for me, but it should also be helpful to you when you need to go outside of the features provided by the higher-level DBI and dplyr interfaces. A big thanks goes out to all 41 users who contributed issues, pull requests, and comments since the last release: @alex-danilin , @aschwartzSGI , @aumdavis , @barnettjacob , @batpigandme , @blakeyc , @bulam , @byapparov , @c3212218 , @craigcitro , @czeildi , @dan-booth , @edgararuiz , @EricGoldsmith , @everron , @haavardw , @hadley , @hidekoji , @inkrement , @j450h1 , @jarodmeng , @jennybc , @JHowix , @krlmlr , @ldanai , @leggitta , @michaelquinn32 , @mpancia , @ned2 , @pcejrowski , @Praxiteles , @ras44 , @realAkhmed , @robincrlee , @selesnow , @TerryZhangHL , @VictArt , @vivshume , @zippeurfou , @zkostitsyn , and @Zsedo

Doug Ford promises tax cut for the middle income bracket | CBC News
The move will cost the province an estimated $2.3 billion, Ford told reporters at a morning news conference in Toronto. Ford previously pledged to reduce government spending by some $6 billion without firing workers, though details on that front are also scant. According to Vic Fedeli, PC candidate for Nipissing, the party chose to target the second bracket because many families who would also qualify for the PCs proposed child care rebate of 75 per cent fall within it. During a campaign stop at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children during which she announced that a Liberal government would hire 3,500 more nurses this year if elected, Kathleen Wynne said Ford's plan would mean fewer services. In her own response, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath reiterated her concern that Ford is not being upfront about what cuts he would implement to pay for his party's campaign commitments.
